Kenny, did they sew you up, or do you still have a big hole in your gut? If so, you'll have to learn how to stuff it with wet gauze twice a day. Like changing the bag--the first time is hard, but it gets a whole lot easier after that. Takes about a month to heal completely, as I recall.

Some docs like to stitch; others like to stuff gauze.

It's coverd with a 2x2 dressing I believe it's sewn up. Should be going home tomorrow. Already passed a lot of gas. Moved to soft diet but I'm going to go slow

Probably good to check under the bandage and see what's going on before you leave the hospital. If it's an open hole, ask them for extra saline to save yourself some money. Like BB, I packed mine with wet gauze for about a month. Mine healed from the bottom up into a nice smooth scar.

If you're already passing gas, it won't be long until they let you go home. Take it easy on what you eat and stay close to a bathroom and you'll do just fine. :D

Here's a tip that others have alluded to: For the first few days, as soon as you hear or feel a gurgle, get your butt to a toilet because it means there's a train coming down the track without any brakes.

Congratulations! Sounds like you're doing great and you'll be sprung soon. Blotting with TP moistened with cold water instead of wiping can be soothing if your butt gets sore. Calmoseptine.

Dammit, Kenny! Didn't I tell you to go easy on the beer?

Seriously, hope it's a brief stay and nothing to worry about.
