'Hidden messages' from techs??

Postby dianetavegia » Thu Oct 23, 2014 9:19 am

I had my CT scan first and then my MRI this morning. The radiologist was sitting at the desk next to the MRI tech. The tech and I chatted a bit and she got me my purse, then she patted me on my back and said 'Well, you're doing GOOD', big smile.

The CT tech was in the hall by the next door and she said 'It was so good to see you again.' Big smile (but then she's always been like that).

I hope I'm not reading things into this that aren't there but the MRI tech made me feel like everything looked good. Anyone else ever have stuff like this happen?

Anyhow, Other than getting a little shaky during the last 10 minutes of the MRI (had that 5 minute wait for the gunk to make it to the rest of my abdominal organs), I did GREAT. No anxiety and no upset tummy.

Diane, a big "YAY" for you that you got through it. I am very, very happy for you that you trudged through the long wait to get this done, and it sounds like with minimal anxiety! Should you take the tech's attitude as a very good sign that all is well? OF COURSE YOU SHOULD, dear! Techs are fantastic at being totally bland/neutral looking if something looks like a problem. When will you get the result?

Love,

Bev

Thanks Kristi!

Oh....... and the 31 month thing. That was an error on my part. 31 months median is 1/2 of 5 years not saying that's when most recurrences happen.

It was also only referring to liver recurrence
At a median follow-up of 31.3 months (range, 4-138 months), a total of 19 patients (11%) had developed LR confirmed by systematic review of follow-up imaging. These included recurrence at the resection margin in 8 (5%) of the 150 patients treated with HR, with a median time to LR that was not reached by the time of analysis.

I remember when I was pg with my 2nd child. The tech was so excited, she asked me what I had at home a boy or a girl, I said a girl, she almost burst and asked me if I wanted to know what I was carrying with this huge smile on her face!! I said no, but knew from her face etc it was a boy and it was!! I can't imagine having their job and having to keep a poker face all the time. Praying that your scan was good!!!!
