Our Journey Is Over

Postby coloradowalt » Fri Oct 03, 2014 2:08 am

My beloved wife passed yesterday. Her cancer was the most aggressive our oncologist had ever seen. From diagnosis to end, nine months. We went to Shands, Moffit and MDA. It seemed the cancer stayed one step ahead of us. August CT showed Liver, LN and Ovary involvement. Went to ER last Friday for severe abdominal pain. CT scan showed massive tumor in pelvic floor extending up left abdomen obstructing sigmoid colon. Surgery for emergency colostomy Tuesday. During surgery discovered bowel leakage. Reduced white blood cell count left her with nothing to fight off infection.

Relationships are living entities. They require nutrition and attention. Spend the time with those you love. Tell them how you feel. In the end, its the little things that matter. I will forever miss her "Hi Baby" phone greeting.

There's nothing that anyone can say to make you feel better after this cruel and shocking and absurd loss. I only write to tell you that I understand your feelings and that I hug you in my thought.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your wife. As someone who has traveled your path two years ago, all I can say is to be kind to yourself. The next months are going to be very difficult. I found consolation along the way from widow sites because I saw that what I was going through was "normal" when grieving the loss of a spouse.
