Such sad news. Marco, like so many before him, was too young for this to happen. He showed us how to live and face death with grace and courage. My condolences to his family and friends.
Jeff
Went in for surgery for a cyst on my bladder, and they found colon cancer growing on the outside of the colon. Got to have two surgeries at the same time! Stage 3, one node involved.

This news took the wind out of my sails - what a profound loss. Marco was a beautiful soul and his presence on this forum made an everlasting impression of love, perseverence and courage on me. i am forever changed for the better for knowing him and will miss him. I am so sad for his family and friends - I can't imagine what they are going through; but mostly, zi am sad for Marco - he had so much more living to do. FUCK cancer.

RIP

A really good person gone too soon.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Such sad heartbreaking new. We all knew this was coming but it is still so hard to hear and even harder to understand. Such a caring, inspiring young man was lost to this horrible unfair "old persons's" disease. Marco you have touched so many lives and will be greatly missed. Prayers of strength to your family. Fly with the angels!

Hugs,

Among the desert of people in the World, Marco was the Oasis.

It's insane for anyone below 55 years to get this disease. It's probably time to have virtual colonoscopy part of yearly checkups starting age 15.

I was so amazed by his ability to be honest about what was happening to him. My own mom didn't want to see what was happening until days before she died. How could he know it and talk openly about it, having lived such a short time on this earth?

Oh, Marco, how heartbreaking that we won't get to see your sweet, kind face or hear, through your lovely poem and other prose. Your fiance as as well as your beautiful family are in my prayers. I hope that heaven is every thing you've hoped it will. Give us a wink if you can.

God bless ~

Very sad to see the news, and also touched to see how big of an impact Marco had here. I have been thinking of Marco the past few days and, on some level, may have been avoiding logging into the forum because I didn't want to see the inevitable news. My sincere condolences go out to Marco's family, fiance, and dear friends.

I hadn't seen his video posts until now. I am so touched by the Swan Song video especially and want to echo what others have said about being touched by the grace and courage with which Marco faced death.

What a loss, and again, what a terrible, awful, unfair disease.
