Gratitude Thread

Hello all....going through some "stuff" right now...and decided to start a Gratitude Book. I have done this in the past, as I am sure many of you have. I kept a journal and every evening I wrote down something that I was grateful for that day. Really helped during those dark days of treatment.

Thought I might start this thread and see if anyone would like to join in here on the CC???? Just a line or two...or even a word of something you are grateful for in your life. I thought that maybe when someone is feeling down they might open this thread...and see something they could relate to that will make their day just a little brighter...

To start....

I am grateful for my children. They have my back...no matter what. They don't pretend to understand my battles...they don't have to. They just love and accept me. xoxox

What a great idea, Tammylayne.

I am so grateful for my son Daniel. Not only is he a compassionate, sensitive, loving man, he was part of the amazing team that helped save my life when I was very sick. It was very rare that I woke up in the hospital that he wasn't there (17 admissions in 2010). He saw me in conditions a kid should never have to see their mom in. He never, ever gave up, and because of that, I simply never did either, even though there were several times I really wanted to.

He is, without a doubt, God's greatest gift to me.

I am grateful for the wonderful full night's sleep I enjoyed last night and the beautiful day I awoke to. The sun is shining, the temps promise to be perfection and the leaves are just beginning to turn. I am grateful.

I'm grateful for my sister, Dawn who keeps telling me that I'll be alright. She continues to encourage me to trust in God, even though I have a hard time in doing this. She's my spiritual inspiration.....

I'm grateful for my family, just my husband and my kids. When I look at my kids I'm so grateful that they grew up to be wonderful people. Maybe we did something right.

I am great full to my Mother, Brother and Oncologist. They were the ones that had faith in me that I was strong enough to fight when I was at my worst. They never gave up on me.

Despite all the grief I feel over losing Danny and continuing to hear of the ongoing struggles of others, I am grateful I found this forum. It has opened up a whole new dimension on the ability of people to overcome supreme odds. There is a lot of pain here, but pain is a part of the human condition, and I think sometimes we lose sight of the beauty of the world when we don't see experience challenges. (Though sometimes there is definitely too many challenges!) I am also very grateful that Danny came into my life fourteen years ago. I am a better person because of him.

Memories, though sometimes painful, they are a precious gift. You really come to realize that when someone is robbed of them as my mother was w/dementia. I can only hope that as cruel as stroke is, there was also a lot of pain along the way that was forgotten. So now I am

My wonderful husband (who endured all of those 15 hour infusion days via the ferry), my sons who are strong, independent young men, and the Colon Club which never stops giving me inspiration and knowledge.

I am grateful to the people at my church that financially supported me when I was going through my treatment. I'm also grateful for my garden and fresh vegetables that I can pick and immediately prepare. Thank God for dirt.
