Anyone on Linzess for chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC)

Postby chrissyrice » Sun Sep 21, 2014 9:03 am

Is anyone here taking Linzess for chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC)?

I have been having lots of issues lately with my digestive health. Started back in March of this year with constipation and now after lots of tests and theories I am feeling frustrated.

My doctor is trying to get me on Linzess and we are waiting on the insurance approval. Anyone else have issues with getting insurance to approve?

Did the Linzess help?

What started with sudden constipation and bloating has ended up with gastritis, no infection of H Pylori, extreme pain in the lower abdomen that has sent me to the ER 2x, clean colonoscopy, no gallbladder issues, no diverticulitis, ct scan shows a large hiatal hernia, my Nexium has probably stopped working so doctor has added Zantac and 1 capful of Miralax 2x per day..... and I am still full of crap and feeling shitty ... but no go

As soon as I can round up all the tests this GI has done and ER records I am going for a second opinion. I am not that happy with his communication and staff or follow up. He does a test and then I have to chase his ass for an answer and results. Sucks!

Thanks for your feedback.

Use it. I've had a lot of success with it over the last several months. Much better than the over the counter stuff. It's not a perfect cure though. You'll have to keep eating a lot of fruits, vegetables, and fiber or you'll have issues again. But as someone who has tried just about everything Linzess is as good as it gets.

My brother has used it for a couple of years. he has genetic bowel issues (after studies done by doctors to figure the problem) missing a gene or something. He said he has explosive diarrhea but better than constipation. No other side effects mentioned. He is a pilot and does not seem to keep him from working.

Linzess worked for about two month, then stopped working even at the higher 290 mcg dosage. I didn't have any insurance coverage issues, but even with insurance the cost is relatively high, about $3 / pill.

Others on this site have recommended seeing a GI department in a large city hospital that has a motility lab, which has many diagnostic tests to get to root cause of chronic constipation.
