This was posted yesterday from TucsonDad's wife. He wasn't with us for long but I thought you'd want to know. May God Bless his family and bring them comfort and peace.
Hello. This is Karl's wife. I came across his iPad and found this forum still on one of the tabs and realized I should write something. After all the encouraging things you all said about looking out for caregivers, I thought I owed you a response. Karl was so encouraged by your support. He got his port on June 24. After your responses, he decided not to go back to work until after his first treatment. Instead we took a family vacation for 8 days to the beach with our three kids just before chemo. No wifi or phone, just us. He was rested and ready for chemo on July 8th. He endured it well. Karl went back to work on July 14. With a heavy heart, I share that Karl died instantly in a car accident on July 20. Karl and our oldest daughter were hit when another driver ran a red light as they were driving to youth group at church. Our daughter had countless skull and facial injuries and has gone through 4 surgeries. She has a long road ahead and faces unilateral left side blindness and deafness. We are expectant that she will still graduate with honors in May. Praise God, her skull took the impact and her brain is fine. I appreciate the hope you gave Karl as we faced the cancer monster. We have been learning perspective, gratitude, and trust as we walk these unexpected and scary paths. I'm thankful this forum exists to give people a safe place to share, vent, and find hope in the stories of others. Keep our family in your prayers as we walk a new path. We will pray for all of you as you walk yours...
