California Condor

Postby peanut_8 » Tue Sep 09, 2014 1:37 pm

Had a bit of excitement this morning. The family dog, coincidentally named Peanut, insisted on going out and enjoying the sunshine, and we were treated to a condor soaring over the house and adjacent hills. It's kind of a rare occurrence here, so we're happy about it.
cheers, peanut

I would also be excited if I saw a California condor flying over my house!! I saw a few while hiking at Pinnacles Nat'l Park a couple of years ago. They're quite the majestic birds, aren't they.

Condors look a little like turkey vultures, with the bald head and all, but they are huge. Still excited about it.

I see a lot of big birds close to my house, there is a little bayou just down the cul de sac. I swear one came into my front yard, and made a mess of my mulch. I was told at work, it was probably an opossum, as something was rooting around.
An eagle here and there, and definitely some hawks, are everyday. A condor, must be an auspicious sight,(probably would make me run in the house) as buzzards, are pretty large themselves. We get a few.
