Another Stage IV has died........

Postby dianetavegia » Mon Sep 08, 2014 6:17 am

55 years ago, at the age of 38, just weeks after his brother was killed in a plane crash and his restaurant burned to the ground, S. Truett Cathey was told he had Stage IV colon cancer. Surgery was done but doctors offered no hope. His cancer never returned. He died of old age last night at 93.

I guess his expiration date the doctors gave him as a father of 3 young children was a few years 'off'.

Way to go, Mr. Cathey!

I looked at his bio and couldn't find any write up regarding his colon cancer.....not like it's something you would to brag about. We were looking for sponsors for our Barbecue and I see they donate to many charities. And the bonus is they are in the Atlanta area.

I cannot find a single thing on him ever having colon cancer.... where did you find that info Diane? Seems like he would have been a huge advocate for colon cancer awareness.

They do a lot of charity work and fundraising, in many areas. I am from that area originally so I grew up with it. I would contact them about your BBQ. My only guess why you can't find anything is because it was 55 years years ago and maybe he shut the door on that part of his life.?.? :?:
