Tumeric?

Postby Girl111 » Sat Sep 06, 2014 11:35 am

Is anyone trying Tumeric ?

I have been told by many that this can help fight colon cancer cells and can prevent spread .

Has anybody taking this found it to help ?

A lot of folk takes turmeric...there's some promising write ups regarding it's cancer prevention....but the only way one knows if it's working is how long someone stays cancer free. Everything is a crap shoot..but I would still suggest taking it along with D3

Curcumin is a more concentrated form used therapeutically with bioperine (from black pepper) for more potency. Turmeric root is what we cook with for extra content and healthy food.

It is true that its listed as an alternative treatment on NCI website: http://www.cancer.gov/search/results

I tried it.....took the pill form. Thought I had a strong stomach.....since I do like spicy chili etc. BUTT it gave me crampy abdominal pains every time I took it....so I discontinued that supplement.

I love, love, love Indian food. But after chemo, I became allergic to tumeric. It makes my tongue swell...bad luck for me, I guess!

As someone else said, get Curcumin (which is the ingredient useful in Tumeric as an anti-inflammatory). I take it (and it's my DH that has cancer, not me). He takes it, too. I strongly believe in its anti-inflammatory properties. When I was breastfeeding and didn't want to take antibiotics, it helped me fight off two infections. I had an infected hair that was gone within two days. It had been bothering me and swelled up for 5 days. They actually sell it at Costco now.

My DH has started taking Tumeric - actually the bottle says Turmeric, so I hope I got the right thing. General Nutrition said it was more of an anti inflammatory but our oncologist said he has a patient that has outlived his prognosis by years and swears its the tumeric he has been taking. Per the oncologist - it certainly is worth a try.

I take it (curcumin) along with high doses of vit D. Not sure it helps but it can't hurt :)

My naturopath likes me on it.

Just bought some Turmeric at the local drug store. What is the recommended dosage for maximum benefit? They are 500 mg capsules. Should I take one or two a day? I cant seem to find an answer online. Thanks

I take two in the morning on an empty stomach....please realize that turmeric does not completely absorb into the body so be sure it has bioperine (black pepper) in it.
