Illeostomy question

Postby li001sp » Wed Sep 03, 2014 8:01 pm

I have a illeostomy question. I have one that for now is still temporary. I believe it's normal to pass some stool the normal way but I'm not sure. Can anyone advise if this has happened to them?

I'd appreciate it.

Good evening. When I had my temp it happened. It's kind of shocking right! Doc said perfectly normal, but as with anything monitor yourself and call your doc if you have concerns.

It is normal. It's actaully not stool, it's just mucus. The section of your intestines that is no longer attached to your stomach will still generate mucus that you will pass "the normal way" No worries totally normal.

I passed "tootsie rolls" periodically. My doctor said it was normal.
07/15/11 Stage III Rectal, 08/11 - 09/11 Chemo/rad 11/11 LAR - Whole rectum gone, ostomy, hysterectomy
01/12 Port placed, 01/12 thru 06/12 Folfox, Xelox 10/03/12 Reversal, Clear scan
And then the story continues.
Currently, remission round two!

Its normal for first few months. It goes away when your body becomes used to it.
