Our turn for clinical trial

Postby jgall » Thu Aug 28, 2014 11:18 am

We've been waiting for this clinical trial http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02110082to open up, and we just got word from Chris's onc that it is being approved this week. So, we're off to the races, I guess. He won't have chemo as planned on Tuesday so that he can have 28 days off chemo. He'll start up as soon as we get back from our vacation to MN in mid-September.

Is it possible to be excited and terrified all at once? YES!

Swing some chickens, will ya?

Julia, I'm excited for Chris and will definitely be swinging chickens for good results! This is Erbitux combined with the monoclonal antibody Urelumab, right? Is it considered an immunotherapy trial then?

I'm glad you have a vacation planned during his time off chemo. Might as well enjoy yourselves and store up some good energy for the race ahead.

Thanks for all the good wishes! It will be a big step, and I think this immunotherapy trial has the biggest potential upside for me - at least best among what options I have now. It will be nice to have a break; chemo has been pretty regular for almost two years. We shall have to see how much growth happens before off chemo, and how effective the new treatment is.
