I agree that its crazy that doctors won't give you more, especially with a stage iv diagnosis. I just got a prescription for Ativan. I use it on infusion days as I have nausea just thinking about the chair. I don't really like how it makes me feel, but it definitely calms me down. I find mmj is better for calming me down and making me happy :)

I never knew it was an anti-nausea medicine until I started the up-front work on my upcoming clinical trial. The research nurse said if the anti-emetic we give you does not work we can give you Ativan. I said..hmmmm..maybe not a good idea as I get loopy on that stuff.

I have a bottle of Ativan and basically never use it. I too am made loopy by it. With my recent back injury I have also rediscovered how much I hate flexeril. It works - but it really zones me out.

It took me eight years to realize Ativan is good for nausea. None of the usual nausea meds work for me (Zofran, Kytril). I read on hear a while back about Ativan for Nausea. I had some in my stash so I thought what the heck. cant make matters much worse. It took most of the nausea away and as you said it makes you dopey which is fine with me. I always said I just wanted to sleep through treatment until the worst of it was over with.

When I was first diagnosed the onc nurse told me to take an Ativan before I went to bed to prevent morning nausea. It makes me sleepy so it worked as a sleep aid too. But it was great for the nausea, especially on those rough days following infusions.

Kenny,

I saw the Who in Oakland, CA way back when at age 20. They Rocked! My ears rang for over a week. The LOUDEST concert I have ever seen over the years - huh I thought the ringing in my ears the last 2 years was from chemo, maybe the Who is the culprit!

Big Who fan here; have seen them at least 4 times. Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey are getting ready to go on tour, the "final" one. Heard that before...

Yep, we had great music!! Kenny, check out King Crimson and Mark Almond...

King Crimson! Oh my gosh, haven't heard that in a hundred years! Instantly flashed on some great memories from back in the day. I used to be a naughty girl... Actually, she's still in there, I've just gotten smarter. Sigh.
