A reversal is rarely easy, Cherie, but most people seem to get through it OK.

Hello Teddi,

So sorry you need to be here but you will find lots of support. I had the same dx you do and I've had the bag and the reversal, successfully I might add. And I was initially told there was no way that would happen.

. "There's a member on this forum, Weissoccermom, who has compiled an excellent compendium of advice tailored to women. I hope she'll be along shortly to pm it to you, but if not, do look her up and ask her for it. Radiation can have unintended consequences for your lady parts--and it can be mitigated, but don't delay."

Just wanted to second the quote above, I wish I had done more searching about radiation because no one talked to me about what could happen and now I have to deal with the consequences of that. Weissoccermom is a fantastic resource here and I am glad to be available to you for whatever.

Welcome, Teddi!

My tumor was very low also -- I had a great response to chemoradiation and there was actually no tumor left when my surgeon did the LAR --- just scar tissue. I know you are at the beginning of a long road, but you can get through it! Hope you find lots of support and good tips here.

When I was doing the chemo radiation, my radiation oncologist suggested using a natural ointment - Calendula cream. The brand that they gave me was Boiron. I think it was very helpful for "butt burn" from the radiation. Also helpful were baths with a little lavender oil.

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. It comes at a good time be cause I am feeling a bit defeated at the moment. Had to pop my first pain pill today. Not sure how I'm going to face the next 2 weeks, but I suppose I will.
