I am growing 2 plants of my own and sent a friend to Washington for a big bottle of Everclear (can't talk myself into solvents) I am very intersted in everyones progress on this thread. At present I use Cheeba Chews (a very controlled edible for pain and sleep) it works wonders.
BTW you can grow your own medical mj in Cali but you can't buy Everclear, go figure.

Check with other local folks about legality / state issues, but I can give you some " Chemistry 101 " background :
Everclear grain alcohol
it is the highest proof pure ethyl alcohol ( ethanol ) from the distilling process.
( ethanol comes off a distillation process at 95% + 5% water by volume, called an azeotropic mixture or 95-5. )
alcohols which "claim" to be 99-100% ( NOT 100 proof ) are denatured, not safe for consumption and usually used for lab solvent / chemical processes.

In the realm of cannabis oil processing, there are concerns about the purity and safety of some of the solvents used for the extraction process. There is some misinformation posted on some of the "pioneer sites" concerning the names, sources and purity of some of the industrial solvents. RSO equates naptha, benzene and hexane as all being the "same" ....... THEY ARE NOT the same and can be potentially carcinogenic themselves .... Ether is likely to blow up amateur chemists, so the search for a "safer" solvent leads to 95-5 which is not without its own risks in handling.

So I got sick of trying to find somewhere to buy weed while on chemo so mum grew some for me. She is a great gardener and not a smoker. It was a novel way for her to help me. Now I have more than I know what to do with. I'm not a regular smoker but use it from time to time as needed for pain, nausea and anxiety. I'd love to find out how to turn it into oil and use it. My fear is is that this is more witch doctor medicine than anything else. Weed help so much with nausea and appetite while on chemo but as for it "curing" cancer I'm not so sure. Are there any medical studies out there to prove it has benefits?

If it only worked for pain,anxiety,nausea and appetite that's still huge I'm going to the dispensarie today because the xeloda I'm taking seems to kill my appetite as the main side effect for me.

Latest news I have seen on the development of cannabinoids for therapy is included HERE from Cannabis Technologies (CTI).

It is the info page, from a new startup company with proprietary processes identifying various compounds and testing them. Their areas of focus seem promising Therapeutic Area of Focus and they don't seem to be limited only to Cannabis, but the chart at the page bottom lists 5 different cannabinoids inhibiting cell growth and tumour cells.

Gonna keep my eye on them !

So can I just go to the store and buy it already made for me? I don't feel like I want to be the mad scientist and make it myself. Can anyone tell me how to get started? I know you need a card but how and where do I get it. Will my onc give me the card? I guess I've been afraid to ask since it's not really approved by all Dr's. I just want some relief ,but I don't want to feel drugged. I don't even think I would use it that often. But I would like to try it.
