Doctor said he was really concerned about my colon

Postby Namilius » Fri Jul 11, 2014 1:58 am

Hello, I visited the doctor today due to blood on my toilet paper at stool. He took a look and said there are small holes above my anus and diagnosed me with pilonidal cysts. While he said this he said he is also very concerned about my colon and something dangerous could be happening. What could make him say this just by observing my buttocks/anus? Thanks.

He couldn't know just be examining your exterior - he must have been referring to bleeding - ie. he might not be convinced that the cysts are bleeding and believe that the bleeding is coming from your colon. Have you been referred for a colonoscopy?

I firmly believe that blood on the TP warrants a colonoscopy. If your doctor hasn't already arranged one, please push to have this done and don't take no for an answer.

You did not mention your age. Doctors are sometimes reluctant to order colonoscopies for younger people. Either way, like someone said here, don't take no for an answer.

Pilonidal cysts usually in the 'crack' somewhere above the anus. Usually do not bleed. Get a colonoscopy to make sure things in the colon aren't causing the bleed.
