Happy News - Updated

Postby beccab1 » Mon Jun 23, 2014 2:44 pm

Eric had 6 month CEA and it's .5 so very happy about that! His Onc doesn't think he needs more scans but we all agreed to talk about that in 6 more months.

Other good news off topic - We've decided to adopt a baby. We tried IVF unsuccessfully and I really hated the process. Rather than continue down that path, we took a good year to research adoption and what type we would want to do and have happily started the process with a great agency. In case anyone else ever thinks of going in this direction, our agency is very cancer, gay & lesbian, single parent, etc... friendly. Here is their link: http://www.adoptionhelp.org/

That's a lot of good news to share! Congrats on both the CEA and preparing to adopt! I have a couple of friends who have adopted - Danielle being one of them - a former Colondar Model and Board Member for The Colon Club. I'm so happy for you both. Please keep us posted - good news is always welcome!

Good news on the CEA and greater news on the adoption! Let us know how that's going as time goes on. Our oldest son & wife went through IVF too, were unsuccessful and they were finally able to adopt our granddaughter who was born in Guatemala. She's 8 1/2 and we can't imagine life without her! They've been trying to get two siblings from Panama for some time now and we hope a set of siblings will be found soon

God bless ~

That is wonderful news!!!!!!!!!!!!! And adopting...very cool! I am adopted myself...Tammylayne is actually my birth name...I use it for my online screen name quite often as it allows me to keep that connection. My relationship with my mom is EXACTLY that...she is my mom. In my little world there are 2 parts - mothers (give birth)...and moms (do EVERYTHING ELSE)....both are very important - but MOMS are the best part!!!!!!! :D

Wishing you a QUICK adoption process so you can get your family started now that you are living in NEDville...all you will need is the dog...the minivan and the white picket fence!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much happy news! YAY for YOU! (I think I'd want a yearly scan for a while, so I'll be interested in seeing what you decide down the road.)

I'm wishing you all good things on the adoption front -- that will be one lucky little baby. :)

Update time again...

Time for follow up visits again. Happy to report that Eric's CEA is <.5. His oncologist said he doesn't want to scan him anymore. As much as we'd love to just say, "okay," we pushed for one more. We are going to do one in July which will be 5 years from surgery. Now, just gotta get the colonoscopy scheduled for next month. Really hoping it is clear again so he can start spacing those out.

Eric is still doing daily enemas and it is working for him. He finally was able to stop all pain medications. I've written before that dependency had become a major issue for him and we are just so happy that he was able to overcome that. After a lot of researching, I found an herb that is supposed to be very helpful for anyone dealing with opiate withdrawal. It made the process bearable so if anyone ever has any questions on that, please pm me.

Also, our home study got approved in November so we are officially able to adopt. Getting through that process was like having a second job but worth it of course! I thought I'd share our link here. We are feeling so happy and hopeful going into this new year. http://www.iheartadoption.org/users/eric-rebecca

Wishing everyone a happy holiday season. I've turned into a major lurker and rarely post but think of you all so often and just always am thinking positive thoughts and hoping the best for all.
