Our friend Smokeyjoe :(

Postby Maia » Sat May 31, 2014 7:54 pm

This morning, our fellow Smokeyjoe (Leena) passed away. I've learnt these news from other board ( 31 May, 21 May ).I PM ed with her in the past, since she was a patient at the PMH in Toronto, as my friend is. It was so easy to guess a lovely spirit behind the little words we exchanged... I was missing her since time ago... deeply saddened by this. I'm glad she was home for the final days of her journey.

Thank you Maia for continuing to watch out for "us" and keeping up to speed with being in the loop.

Folks should know that Maia has been very concerned and proactive in finding out about our smokeyjoe.
We have exchanged PMs about reports on other forums, and understood Leena was in a very challenging situation but had no direct info we felt comfortable listing here, or family permission to do so.

It is obvious now Maia's concerns were well founded and the info we have is certain.

We have lost another peaceful warrior.
smokeyjoe was an active member in the Calling ALL Colorectal CANUCKS ! topic I started in 2012.

Always a gentle soul, accepting life's challenges with grace and courage and gone too soon.
If you are so inclined, please join me in saying a prayer for her and her family.

With Love Peace and Harmony my friend.

That is sad to hear. I too corresponded briefly with her, she always seemed upbeat.

I am with you Marc.
We have a few folks out "here" and a bunch back 'there" and I am always wanting to hear, compare, share and just talk with some other Colorectal Canucks as it were.
I was very saddened to read her husband's report on CSN and then Maia dug a bit and here we are ...... officially : Gone too soon.

I remain,
on the Journey
but saddened
with every loss
they are we
and we are they

tragic ....
and such a cost.

move on
live on
remember

Be here
for them

and they ....
are NEVER, ever lost. -CRguy

I re-read all the PMs that Leena and I shared on Facebook last night. What an awesome, loving woman she was. Grace and courage. I will miss her very much.

I am beside myself hearing about Leena. We chatted on Facebook from time to time. She was very supportive and always had something worthwhile to say. I know that she was starting to have quite a bit of pain and discomfort. I hope she is free of pain and at peace.

Leena and I had similar paths and she was also a fellow Canuck, so we talked quite a bit...not just about cancer but about our kid's ball, boating and biking. She had great spirit, was always positive and will be very much missed.
