How about this idea:
Counter their medical advice with your own advice on how it is illegal for the government to collect income taxes, and that they should not pay their taxes any more but just send in a orange colored form instead with the magic code word: IAE (I Am Exempt). Both their theory and your theory will make the same amount of sense.
