dying alone or not

Postby lohidoc » Fri Apr 25, 2014 11:48 pm

Sometimes after a treatment session my thoughts turn dark.
Most of us do not wish to die alone. I myself will want my attorney to be present.

But some of us will be alone. The following new development in end of life care may be of interest.

That is just a bit weird! That stroking motion doesn't look particularly comforting, but I guess it's better than nothing.

So why the lawyer present?

I want my dog!

That's just creepy. Reminds me of a cold version of Soylent Green.

That is so messed up. I don't want Siri stroking my arm and chattering in my ear to be my last moments on this earth.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

"Creepy" describes it best!

If I had to choose, I would choose dying alone verses that voice and machine. As someone pointed out, I would want my dog.

I didn't look at it either, thinking it might be creepy, but I agree with skypup... "I want my dog" or in my case, I want my cat....

Not for me..... I would choose being alone over that option.
I do understand the notion that "hearing" is the last sense to go, so that may be what has driven this concept ???

Marc, how are you doing my friend ?
You mention "after treatment" here's hoping the darkness has lightened a bit for you.

Best wishes

Thanks for pointing out the origin of this annalexandria.

So why the lawyer present?

Need you ask? I'll need all the help I can get when I meet St Peter.

Been a tough winter CRguy. My February scan showed significant growth of my lung tumours, and I had a good going radiation pneumonitis. Looking back I think I have been neglecting my treatments for over a year, skipping sessions, sometimes for a month, and cigars. So I decided it was time to get to grips with this thing. Full disability from April 1st, and focus entirely on treatments - twice a week. And clean living. Already noticing the difference, next scan in July and we shall see.

Interesting psychological effects from these sessions - deep depression, to the point of crying, which then makes way for euphoria. Apparently it is also effective for schizophrenia.

The "clean living"part would be enough of a challenge for me, but two of your treatments per week would be daunting !

Wishing you much success Marc.
