Magnesium loss
Why is my body after 2 years - completely deleted in magnesium? I get IV take 1000 pills and still can't keep it? This is crazy!
T3 N0 M0 -1-4-12 to 3-2013- NOW stage 4 terminal

Are you getting chemo? That happened to Lauren on erbitex and vectibex. She had to get infusions of magnesium. It can be life threatening, so keep your eye on it and go to the ER if your hands or face muscles seize up!

Ok
Yes to both chemo's. Making no blood also so having 4 unites of blood this week. I am going off this chemo and on to another next week. Been doing chemo for 2 years weekly, getting tired.

Your body can't keep magnesium levels stable if your potassium is low, and vice versa. Your potassium may be off!

My potassium level was so low that they had to postpone my surgery and give me potassium in the holding area. It stayed low all the time so I finally tossed a temper fit and my family dr gave me tabs. My gyno suggest magnesium for my charlie horses and that has worked. I no longer get them in my upper and lower legs. The potassium is a little hard on my stomach so I have to take it with food and zantax.
DX: RC 11/11 T1 N1c MX
Surgery: LAR 12/23/11
Rad & Xeloda: 1/12 - 4/12
Clean CT: 4/12
Reoccur: Lymp 4/14 4 new locations. 2 Aortic, 2 locations Rectum
Chemo to start: 6/14, OXI, Advastin, 5FU
10/14: One tumor left - on Avastin only
Surgeries: 4/15, 7/15 and 8/15 :last tumor w/Illeostomy then Ostomy
NED by 7/15 Surgery
Surgery: LAR 12/23/11

potassium for me is normal or little high but within range. I had to watch it as I am eating artichoke hearts for the magnesium. I have low blood protein and then some low albutium (spell). magnesium is hell.

This is weird but, my husband low potassium levels during his last chemo round. I started buying him Smart Water and it did the trick for him. I don't recall what else is in it but, if you like plain water, you may want to check it out.

I always got infusions of both magnesium and calcium before each chemo session. The nurse told me that is supposed to help lessen the side effects.
