This trial is a really good one:
A Study of Nivolumab and Nivolumab Plus Ipilimumab in Recurrent and Metastatic Colon Cancer (CheckMate 142)
[NIvolumab is the PD-L1 agent from BMS (discussed here; ipilimumab (ippy), the agent 'invented' by Dr Allison. So you can be sure that they will know how to use it and combine it, at the MD Anderson, even if Allison is not listed as the head of the trial]
The trial looks like 'not yet recruiting' at clinicaltrials.gov (http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/study/NCT02060188) but they listed it as OPEN in the MD Anderson page, look: http://utm-ext01a.mdacc.tmc.edu/Dept/PR ... /2013-1015
So who knows : )

Of course, they have to say if your mom fits the inclusion criteria.

Other good trial at the MD Anderson is
Ipilimumab and Imatinib Mesylate in Advanced Cancer
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01738139
http://utm-ext01a.mdacc.tmc.edu/Dept/PR ... /2012-0784

and this one for solid tumours in general A Phase 1/2, Open-label Study of Nivolumab Monotherapy or Nivolumab Combined With Ipilimumab in Subjects With Advanced or Metastatic Solid Tumors http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01928394 It's not for CRC but maybe you can ask, if the other is not recruiting yet.

I think both approaches are promising but the next big thing seems to be the immunological approach. The tumor profiling approach is more complicated and difficult I think but also very promising. Yes it is complex and when faced with complexity we often at first see no way to make sense of it. Fortunately the study of complex systems has come a long way and eventually methods to manage the seemingly unapproachable disorder will be found. But yes, this will take time. My feeling is it probably won't happen soon enough for many of us. Immunotherapy on the other hand is coming very soon I think.

Voxx,
Agree with the time frames but Immunotherapy seems damn expensive and only appears to work for 20-25% of those that it is given to, with no idea which of those patients will benefit from the drug.
I think it is damn promosing but really would like to see some quick answers (usable solutions) being put on the table now.
Don't mean to be negative as I had no idea that immunotherapy was so advanced, and I find it extremely encouraging. I just want it in my time frame which is now.
I also wanted to say thanks to Maia as I always read her threads and do appreciate all the time and energy she puts into what is a very difficult area.

My parents were at MDA earlier this week and they mentioned Dr. Allison's immunotherapy work and immunotherapy clinical trials to my mom's onc. The onc said that he is good buddies with Dr. Allison and mentioned this clinical trial, but said that at the moment immunotherapy is showing the best results for melanoma and leukemia, not CRC and since the stivagra is working he recommends staying on it. In the past he has pushed a MDA clinical trial for KRAS mutants. So mom decided to stick with stivagra at the moment, but we will still monitor various clinical trials...

Most (if not all of you) are some of the wisest here on the chat line. I've been lurking for awhile for hubby. Along the "personalized care" lines I have stumbled across the following and assume you have too?

Design of a Disease-Specific Master Protocol: http://www.focr.org/sites/default/files ... otocol.pdf ;

RPM Report - Testing A New Model For Personalized Drug Development: http://www.focr.org/11-14-2013-rpm-repo ... evelopment ;

MD Anderson Cancer Center Launches Unprecedented Moon Shots Program: http://www.mdanderson.org/newsroom/news ... gram.html;

Cancer Moonshots Program at MD Anderson: http://www.cancermoonshots.org/

SPECTAcolor Biobank welcomes its 100th colorectal cancer patient in mid-February! http://spectacolor.eortc.org/spectacolo ... -february/

I guess if I am reading it right, colorectal cancer is next on the list (AFTER all of the other Master Protocol cancers before us are put into play) and lung cancer the first on the line up does not flop before it gets off the ground? is there any other colon cancer chat threads chasing this story? Or websites to keep my eyes peeled out for?

PLEASE GOD......... speed up their time frame and slow down ours
