Good to hear the date has been set. My thoracic surgeon said the better your lung capacity going in, the better it will be afterwards. Since you're a rock climber, I'm betting you have pretty decent capacity now. Hope you have an uneventful surgery and a painless-as-possible recovery! Are you going to be at OHSU? Or your original place?

Good luck, Kenny.

If you're like me (and probably Julie, too), you shouldn't have much trouble recovering. Take it slow at first, but keep moving and you'll bounce right back in a week or two.

Thanks guys, it's amazing when it comes to cancer surgery can't happen fast enough. I put knee surgeries of for months. I think my lungs are working good thoracic surgeon wants lung function tests but says just procedure went running with my kids at their school jogothon and felt good.

Julie, I'm going to go with the surgeon in Eugene he's just the guy I keep going back to very meticulous and prepared.

BB, I can still run my 660 Stihl my hands tingle a bit but I love the smell of two stroke and wood! You know what I mean.

It's good you have a surgeon you can trust. I just hope the hospital has good food! :D

A PFT (pulmonary function test) is standard before lung surgery. I just wish they did a post-surgery one, say 3 months later, for comparison. I don't mind the nose clips, the mask, or the glass booth, but I hate the arterial blood gas test. I always end up with a giant bruise on my wrist.

You're going to do great. I'm glad you have this scheduled and can move forward. I know you really struggled with which surgeon/location to choose - but it sounds like you've done your homework and have made the choice that is best for you. As close as I am to OHSU, I never considered going there and in retrospect, no regrets. I have top notch care at the local cancer center - they've always done an outstanding job with me.
