I had to look up what exactly a digital fish tank is ha. I used to have many aquariums but got tired of the hassle. I keep thinking about setting them up again but it really is quite a bit of work.

Me, too.

Saaaaaweeeeet.

My best friend and companion when recovering from bowel surgery was a beta named Raymond. He lived in bowl on the kitchen table, and since that's where I generally hang out, Raymond was always around. It was an evening routine to "have a drink with Raymond." Sadly, he is no more.

Between my own cancer journey, my husband's illnesses ( 9 major surgeries between us in 8 years)....too many friends that have passed, a best friend that is dying...I have come to the harsh reality that forever does not exist.

Therefore...having goals and dreams for "later"...for "someday" have been given a new timeline. "Someday" needs to be now...later needs to be sooner. And forever....well....that just doesn't exist.

Last year I took money out of my retirement fund and bought a trailer. My husband and I spent many glorious hours sitting on the beach listening to the waves. And right now, we are giddy with anticipation of another season of doing the same. We talked about doing this when we retired...about doing it "someday"...
I knew I couldn't afford to take my money out of my retirement fund...we have had to rebuild them 4 times and in truth, there is very little money in there. But I also knew that I couldn't afford not to...

I live in the "financial world", so I understand the importance of saving for tomorrow. But I also live in the world where people get sick and die too young...where dreams are never realized, and where "someday" never comes.

I am determined o enjoy as many of those "somedays" as I can....today.

Good for you, Tammy! I'm thinking about writing a book called "Advanced Cancer as a Cure for Procrastination." :D There's nothing like a stage IV diagnosis to make you think about all the things you were going to do -- and then decide that NOW is the perfect time to do them!

I don't know about that. There's a few things I've been putting off--stuff I'm dying to get out of doing.

And on that note, I pulled the trigger on a new laptop today. It isn't a Rolex but I'll get more use out of it though it is a bit pricey. It's an Asus g750jz. And it should be awesome.

Yeah - It's a splurge but no wife or kids so...ha. It was only half as much as my new Falcon NW desktop I bought two weeks ago. Let me see if this link works.

The new beast is the Black one on the Left replacing the silver one on the right - assuming the image actually loads for other people.

My Ford ranger 2004 is approaching 120,000 miles, although my 2006 Ford ranger has only 60,000 miles. On the 2006 I bought the best tires I could find, and new brakes, just last week. I did compliment those purchases with a new fuel filter, and oil change. Also, I'm sorry Raymond drank like a fish, hopefully that won't be my demise

lohidoc wrote:Ha! I am the other way BB. I've never been a materialistic kind of person, but since my recurrence I find it difficult, for obvious reasons, to justify personal expenses. My computer is a 2004 Ebay purchase, I just took my trusted 1992 volvo 240 to the knacker's yard, after cannibalizing it for my daughter's 1990 Volvo (she's like me).

I wear patched up LL Bean clothes, I'm down to my last plate, and will only cook two days ahead.

Anyone on my side in this?

I've been doing this too, doc. Should I get new glasses? Are my teeth gonna see me to the end? Last year, we had a power surge that fried quite a few things in the house. I let my husband choose what he wanted because I don't figure I'll get all the good out of them so he might as well get what he likes. However, I am more apt to order rib eye in a restaurant than the cheaper sirloin or even chicken fried steak. Within reason, I'm more apt to spend a little extra on gifts. I guess it all balances out, doesn't it?

Btw, congrats on the new mileage, BB! So thrilled to see the new numbers!

God bless ~
