I'd be glad to help with the application process if she needs any advice or someone to read things over! PM me with any questions... the application process can be very daunting!

Angie,

Thanks. I will tell her. She did do a preliminary Medical School application and practice interview with her college. She will be taking the MCAT mid June which will give her another chance to take it again before the Med. schools start interviewing for the Fall of 2015. She was scheduled to take it twice before but cancelled as she had no time to study for it due to her heavy work load and her Dad's illness and death. This summer she will be doing more job shadowing with some of our local doctors.

My wife is still here fighting and things have not been going well. It feels like I am standing on a shore watching her try to swim but she can't and there is nothing I can do but watch it all unfold. F$#ck cancer and all it has done to her! I know I'm not left behind but I figured this was the best place for support for me. I cant live without her! I don't know how to handle the weight that we half to carry. I try and try but there is nothing i can do and I am having trouble excepting that! Sorry for the rant I just need peeps who understand.

I know that feeling very well. The helplessness is the hardest part for me. We still have hope and that is what carries me through these days. Call me anytime you need to...day or night my friend.

Stephen,

It is such a helpless feeling. I wanted to scream many times due to the frustration of it all. I can so relate. Dang cancer! So sorry that anyone has to go thru this nightmare. Unfortunately, we all have to deal with it and go thru it the best way we can.

A NOTE FOR HELEN

I have a suggestion. Since this is one of those ongoing threads, I was wondering if displaying the title in bold or capital letters would make it easier to find.

That's when I took mine! I'm at MSU for medical school so if she has any specific questions I can answer them. I applied really broadly, though. She's a tough girl, and I'm sure dad is beaming down with pride and navigating her through the process!

Helen, I think all you have to do to change the title is go to your first entry, hit "edit", and then you can change the thread name...

Well everyone, officially lost it here. Was feeling my heart skipping beats, so I called my primary care. They wanted me seen right away but I live far from home, so I went to urgent care, where they told me to go to ER. I didn't want to pay the co-pay ($125 is a lot when you are making -$500 a day), so I called a family medicine doc I know that is currently the head of my clerkship. He is really nice and got me into his clinic for an EKG... which was normal. Everything was normal, just having a panic attack. Guess I have to go back on my anti-depressants and anxiolytics for now...

I can't believe that 16 months later it feels like just yesterday. The pain is still there, and I just can't move on. Part of me thinks I should have taken a break, and part of me thinks it would have been worse had I done so. What a mess.

You're right, again.

There are NO right answers right now my friend .....

ONLY ........... good questions .............
BTDT, .....NO ...
been there and still DOING that

The only question to ask yourself, and answer in any meaningful way is :

" WHO am I now and WHY am I still here ? "

Would love to say BTDT ...................... BUTT ......................
I am still getting a handle on the asking of the question.

ANSWER .... still to be determined

Love, Peace and Harmony to you my friend

ALWAYS on this .... Journey.

My daughter found some photos that she had forgotten about on a flash drive and posted them on Facebook. They were family photos taken on Easter Sunday of 2012. All of my family was there except for my son who had left the day before to walk the Appalachian Trail. Despite the dang cancer, my dear husband looked so healthy and handsome in his suit. So bittersweet to see these. Still can't wrap my head around the fact that he is gone from this Earth. I cherish the pictures and the memories of him.

Angie,

Just sending you love and thinking that CRguy is right on. You work so hard my dear and I can only imagine how hard it is with a heavy heart. I hope this tough time eases a bit in the days ahead. I know it won't all just be OK but I hope for some light in your day.
