Diane,
Sorry you're dealing with the anxiety so far in advance. I always have trouble praying for myself. What a good idea to go out and ask who else you could be praying for!
While I was on the trial, I had a scan every 6 weeks. Monday (April 7) is my first scan since the one in December where the IV contrast gave me such a fit. My onc felt sorry for me and made the follow up apt for Tuesday. Wonderful guy!

SO....if by the next few weeks you mean ......... June or July something ( I have the referral in my drawer somewhere  )
....then YES , I am.

@ my stage, my age and my mindset ....sorry BUTT ..WTF ?
it IS what it IS .... OR will NOT be ?????

SkiFletch would always propose the notion of :
" Will one second of my worrying change anything which is to come ? " .... OR some such.
Too busy enjoying life to search the forum right now ... BUTT I think (hope) you get the gist ?

Scanxiety is REAL .... BUTT so is REAL LIFE.
I quote :
BrownBagger " Living life, scan to scan. "
jmarie " Can't stop the waves, so learn to surf. "
bradyr " Sometimes, life IS what it IS. "
SBL " ...but not always what it seems. "
NWgirl " Don't retreat....RELOAD. "

.....need I go on ?

It IS a scan.
It is NOT your whole life.

One day, every way, on the Journey,
We deal, we feel, we move along ...and
MOVE ON !

Sorry, BUTT that is the ONLY way I have gone along this Journey of mine, which is way LESS than any of my homies I quoted above .....

Need more references ?
I could give about 50-60 more...BUTT I hope you get my drift.

A scan is scan ........... is a scan ...............

I'll be praying!
Blue Cross refused the PET scan and I'm having an MRI of the abdomen and CT w/o tomorrow (April 8th) at 12:40 and 2:30 in the next town. I'm a bit down and a bit nervous. Everything (including a hive where some elastic rubbed me all day) MUST be cancer.......

I decided against the panic type med and am just going with my Klonopin since it's long lasting and I will be either driving or having tests for hours. Won't get my results until Tuesday the 15th.

Glad for the GOOD news above and praying for the rest to have great news, also!

Good luck to all. Had an ultrasound of my liver on 4/4, abdomen/ pelvis CT with contrast today 4/7, won't know anything until next week. My upper right quadrant/liver has been bothering me for awhile.

Sometime after seeing my oncologist in early December, 2013 he was diagnosed with bladder cancer, and was on his last round of chemo in early March when I went back, I was more than a little shocked. He had surgery the third week of March and doubt he has made it back to work, fingers crossed for him as he is a great guy. He had me go see a urologist last June for some tests due to the radiology notes from my 2013 CT scan regarding a potential issue with my bladder, which turned out to be OK, and then he has that diagnosis later in the year. Shocking to say the least.

I'm doing blood work on the 24th, which will likely be a nothing burger as my CEA has never as much as blipped. We are keeping an eye on my Vit D which has been low, but I've been 'loading' with about 4500 iu for the last two months.

No scan for me until Oct., but I am getting scoped in July. Fun Fun...

Good luck everyone!!

I think we all need valium...No I'm not joking, I'm a hysterical mess at scan time. If getting whacked out on drugs for a day or two helps why the hell not. I hate living with such uncertainty hanging over me. I just want to be carefree...all this worry can not be good for our health. SO BRING ON THE VAIUM!!!

Hello Everyone,
This is my first post, and I have some serious scan anxiety. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer on October 9, 2013. I am 46 years old, mother of 4, (actually 5- my first daughter passed away when she was six months -SIDS), married, ran 3 miles 10 days before diagnosis, have always exercised, eaten well, etc... you know the drill. I have been in treatment since Oct. 30, just had number 11, and will go for number 12 next week, the 15th. I have my scan on the 22nd. The cancer is in my colon and liver. It has shrunk a little more than a third, my cancer markers went down from 68.8 to 9.6 from Oct to Jan. I have continued to work, and take care of my family, try and exercise, eat right, kale shakes, nutritional supplements, prayer, meditation, visualization... And still there are moments of every day I want to crawl in the back of my closet and stay there. I am posting because I need people who understand completely how hard this is. How hard it is to get out of bed each day and keep going. Thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
Jill
