What the heck is moviprep, as opposed to Osmoprep which I took last year. How are they different. I have to choose. Colonoscopy scheduled for Oct 10.

If the Osmoprep you took was the pill-prep and if you did okay on the pills, personally I would go that route rather than drink the club Kool-Aid. If I have any choice in the matter I will NOT ever again do GoLytely...MoviPrep is similar...two doses of one liter of go-go juice.

Moviprep - colonoscopy prep (posted by astephens33) - This was a topic I posted some time ago, with the discussion being good with lots of pros and cons. My GI doctor won't let me use Osmoprep - the pills - not exactly sure why - but it certainly seems more desireable than the Moviprep, which makes me nauseus even with the anti-nausea pills.

Moviprep always sounds like you're going to get ready to go see a movie.....sorry, I have no experience with it so can't offer much help.

i know you already made your decision, but if someone else is reading this, i have had to use both golytely back home, and used moviprep at mayo clinic. The moviprep was WAY easier to tolerate than the golytely by far and was half the volume. It did not clean me out as good however, so i am surprised mayo used it. Also it was quite expensive.

As I understand it, the purpose of all these preps are to clean you out, but all work slightly differently. Some are salt-based and have been linked to kidney issues, this include the Osmo pills. However, when I asked if this was true for people with good kidney's, I could not find/get a definitive response. So my observation from the posts and talking with people, is that it is often a GI doctor preference. My GI doctor uses Moviprep and Moviprep only.
