I have read a lot of discussions about PSK being beneficial. I read tht is actually used as a treatment in Japan and the American Cancer Society is surprisingly not negative towards and sited some studies through MDA stating the possible benefits.

My question is what is a reliable good sourse of this extract.

I found it difficult to get the 'right' one. There are all kinds of PSK of different strengths and quality. You can sometimes tell by the price. There is also a different and related extract, I think its called PSP. I get mine from my natriopath. I trust that it is good quality. You should take pretty large doses of it, I intent to increase my dose. There are also other medicinal mushrooms like reki and matake that are beneficial. I think one bottle of the PSK i take is about 80 dollars canadian. It has 120 tablets. I take six a day, but will likely increase.

I've used the mushroom science PSK kind for three years +. My onc was not opposed to me using during chemo. Did it work? Who knows, but I feel that for me it has. I still take it and will continue to indefinitely no side effects at all. It was recommended to me by integrative doc at MSKCC.

Kenny, I take 5 capsules a day, that's 3000 mg., on an empty stomach. Usually I take 3 capsules first thing in the morning, the other 2 between lunch and dinner. Remember to always let your doc know what supplements you're taking, specially if still in treatment.

I've been taking the PSK from mushroomscience.com for about 1.5 years now (since chemo ended). It's kind of pricey at $50 for 90 600 mg capsules (after buy 5 get one free discount). I take 2 capsules twice a day for a total of 2400 mg/day. No recurrence yet and I have no idea if PSK helps or not.

For the record, I take the Mushroom Science PSK too, and also in consult with an Integrative Medicine Dr. at MSKCC. I was doing 5x600mg pills/day (half at morning, half at night), but have since transitioned to 4x600mg. Who knows if it has helped with my good results, but there is quite a bit of evidence behind it, and I figure "if it ain't broke, why fix it".

My mother has been taking PSK by Mushroom Science (Extra Strength Coriolus Versicolor) since Jan.2009. For the first 2 years she took 3 in the morning and 3 at night and now she takes 1 in the morning and one at night. She continues to take 800 mg of cimetidine, one baby aspirin and a multi-vitamin every day. We had a scare last month and ended up in the ER, but it turned out to be a kidney stone. I have since discovered they are more common in people with ileostomies. She's doing great now and will turn 87 in May. She still lives on her own, drives, goes to parties and travels. February of 2009 she was given 2-3 months to live so we cherish every day with this beautiful woman. I don't know if any of the supplements I've asked her to take have given us this gift of time but I would never change her regimen as long as she agrees to it. I think she took it for me at first but now she is a believer.

I got a good deal (on a sale) on the Turkey Tail mushroom capsules from Swanson.

I've been taking the capsules and will continue to do so. Couldn't hurt,...and has a lot of good studies on it.
