I don't think any doctor would approve of the use of Celebrex while the patient is on Avastin due to increased bleeding risk.

I am on celebrex one day pre-chemo and on chemo days to prevent allergic reactions (I reacted to oxaliplatin on cycle #8). The celebrex is given to me with singulair. Both these medications are not usually prescribed for allergic reactions but I guess in my case, they are necessary.

My husband used Celebrex with a different chemo after researching it as part of a drug trial. A major concern was making sure his heart was not affected negatively, since the dose was high. His cardiologist took him off the daily aspirin while on Celebrex. This warning may or may not apply to you, but you might consider seeing a cardiologist before starting on Celebrex, unless the oncologist is on top of that issue.

"Cardiovascular warning: All prescription NSAIDs, like CELEBREX, ibuprofen, naproxen, and meloxicam have the same cardiovascular warning. They may all increase the chance of heart attack or stroke that can lead to death. This chance increases if you have heart disease or risk factors for it, such as high blood pressure or when NSAIDs are taken for long periods."

My husband is on Celebrex 200mg twice a day. Except for some very rare, light nose bleeds, he has not had any problems. Also if we forego the baby aspirin for a few days around chemo days, he doesn't even get a slight nose bleed. He was already on Celebrex before coming to this oncologist but he knows he takes it. I am going to bring it up and ask him if he thinks there could be a problem.

I was on Celebrex for a couple of months. Had to stop when my liver enzymes started to climb. So it's not just bleeding or cardiac issues which you need to watch.
