Strange feeling left side colon?

Postby zatoronto » Mon Jan 27, 2014 10:24 pm

Hello all,

For the past 2 months I have been suffering digestive issues, mainly constipation, slow transit time and indigestion. At this moment I have no Idea why these things are happening. I have been to a specialist and she did my thyroid tests and they came out normal.

From What I have read on the internet, it is possible that I may have Gut Bacteria Imbalance (Dysbiosis) or Candidiasis( Yeast growth) in the colon. But again these are all guesses and I am not sure. These things began about 2 months ago with a upset stomach/diarrhea that lasted about a week, then a week after I became completely constipated and all these issues began.

Anyways my current question is about a strange feeling in my sigmoid and decending colons, this feeling has been there since the last 2 months when all this began. It basically feels like I have something in side my left side colon. Also I can even feel the Stool in there, because it seems to get stuck when ever it is passing from that area. What could this be? I have no pain at all, it's a just a strange feeling. Could it be a blockage or even some thing else?

I plan to do colonoscopy next month, but I hope I could get some answers before that

I had similar symptoms in 2011...and despite my description and visits to local GI expert and the Mayo Clinic, no one thought to do a colonoscopy until 2013 when I learned I had stage 3 rectal cancer. I think it is great that you are having colonoscopy. Other things to check are your CEA which is a blood test, and you vitamin D level. Mine was off the chart low at the time of my diagnosis. Good luck!

Hi Zatoronto

First of all welcome to the site, and hope that you don't have any reason to actually become a fully fledged member :!:

I would suggest that the colonoscopy is your best shot. We have all got our own stories and insights but the only want to get a definitive answer, other than a very subjective opinion is a colonoscopy.

You are doing a very wise thing by getting a colonoscopy. That is really the most effective way to see what is going on inside your colon; there are many possibilities for what your problem can be. We are not medical personnel but this is a very supportive site.

Have you had a fever or any other symptoms of an infection or inflammation? Not to alarm you, but I ended going to my doctor when I felt discomfort in my transverse colon and got low fevers every night for about two weeks with no good explanations. That is when I started my colon cancer journey. Fortunately I was diagnosed at a Stage IIa, and am currently NED. Acting on that discomfort and fevers was the best thing I ever did.

I know it is hard, but try and refrain from too much self diagnosis until you get the colonoscopy results and keep us in the loop as you find out more.
