UP-DATE ON KATHRYN FINN-BLUME

Postby AJS » Mon Jan 06, 2014 9:54 pm

Hi All,
Haven't posted on here in quite awhile but I have an update to post for Kathryn. Please keep her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks! Angie

Hospice services have been nice. I am so glad to be able to be home. I had an incredible massage & healing energy today. She climbed right into my bed with me for part of it. This is the best I have felt in a month.

I am totally bedridden now. My pain is well controlled. Because the cancerous mass totally blocks at my duodenum I cannot pass anything past the stomach into the digestive tract. I am not hungry and do not eat. I am thirsty and do drink some fluids. Sometimes they stay in my stomach long enough for my body to absorb a little so I urinate about once per day. Hooray for Depends now that I cannot get up. Most that I drink is vomited up in 5 to 60 minutes. I vomit a lot. I am tired of vomiting.

My biliary bag stopped draining for a few days. I had a bandage and bag change and it started again in a couple days.

I am losing weight. Slowly starving my body but not hungry. This is very weird and not what I ever expected to happen. I am doing better than hospice staff expected. Duodenal cancer is quite rare. So medical staff is a bit confused about what to expect too.

I have had lots of friends and family visit. My parents have been here for several days again now that my mother feels better. I have been blessed to be home on hospice and able to say good byes. Not everyone gets that chance.

It is difficult to read and write and I had a few very tough days so I cannot post much. Nicole does read your posts to me. Thank you all for the love and prayers. It is ok to stop in to visit any time. Not hard to find me. Glad I cannot go anywhere today. -22 f..

Thank you for updating for Kathryn. I'm just glad to "hear" her voice. She and family have been and will continue to be in my prayers. When I get too down about what's going on with her, I just think of her going up on the podium to accept her reward categories. It's that kind of spunk that I'm going to miss. I'm just glad that she still has it.
God bless ~

Kathryn, thank you so much for letting us know how you are doing. You are thought of constantly here on CC. And just like always, you find the strength to take the time and trouble to share what may help others. You are incredible and wonderful and real. Thank you for teaching me. If you have the energy, would you share how your pain is being managed?

Blessings and love to you!

I am glad to hear that hospice is treating you we'll and that you are pain free. That is definitely a blessing. I have to say that in the few years that I have been lurking around this site, I have learned so much from reading your posts and comments. You have shared a wealth of knowledge and provided so many positive thoughts and encouraging words to many of us out here struggling with this awful disease. Thank you for keeping us posted on this final journey of yours. You are, and will remain, in my thoughts and prayers.
God bless you,
Tammie

Best wishes to you and your family Kathryn. You have handled all the adversity that has been unjustly thrust your way with such grace. It is great to hear you are not suffering too much. Perhaps you can think of the great time you have spent with family on warm Isla Mujeres when things are hard.

Godspeed,
Jeremy
