anyone else hot all the time?

Postby shellfry » Sat Nov 16, 2013 9:17 pm

Since my surgeries, chemo and radiation I am hot ALL the time. I am 47 years old and female, but I've had a couple of blood tests done to test for menopause, and so far they say that's not it. That leads me back to all the cancer stuff. I rarely cool off. I live in Kansas City now, and with the weather really cold I'm still wearing sleeveless shirts to work. I wear a sweater outside but as soon as I get in the car it comes off. Everyone at work sits around with their sweaters, and I'm sweating. I have to have cool air blowing on me at night while my husband freezes.
Just wandering if anyone has experienced this?

I can't speak to the chemo or radiation but this was exactly how I felt in peri menopause. The blood tests, IMO, are wholly unreliable----too many hormone spikes to get an accurate overall reading. My brother, currently undergoing chemo, is cold. We are quite the pair riding in the car, he has his seat heater on, I have the A/C on.

Before cancer, I was always cold. I did not see a difference after my resection and subsequent hysterectomy. After a stage 4 diagnosis and chemo/radiation and chemo after APR surgery, I am always hot. Last summer, I froze out my family with the AC. It used to be the other way around.

I love KC, grew up in Westport. Anyway, I had the same treatments as you, about the same time, and I have normal response to the weather. I am posting because I'm a male, and perhaps you are experiencing something I'm not predisposed to go through.

I am the opposite. I used to be hot all of the time and now that I have gone through numerous surgeries, radiation and chemo I am always cold. I recently bought my first winter coat since moving south in 2005. I now have three heavy blankets on my bed.
07/15/11 Stage III Rectal, 08/11 - 09/11 Chemo/rad 11/11 LAR - Whole rectum gone, ostomy, hysterectomy
01/12 Port placed, 01/12 thru 06/12 Folfox, Xelox 10/03/12 Reversal, Clear scan
And then the story continues.
Currently, remission round two!

I got tossed into the deep end of menopause with radiation. They told me that my ovaries would be toast within three days. I've had hot flashes ever since, and do tend to run hot when I used to run cold. They didn't do any tests, either, they just told me flat out that it would be that way. I'm warmer than my husband now, which is saying quite a lot, because he's a hottie. :-p

I was in menopause before cancer treatments started and I had a moderate rate of hot flashes. During chemo they stopped!!! But.... a couple of months out of treatment they came back in force. They are not as frequent, but they take my breath away occasionally when they start.
