The Colon Club

Hello Pals. My move to VT is today. It is currently 25F in Pittsburgh. My driveway is a frozen solid piece of ice. The packing isn't quite finished, but hopefully will be as the movers start taking stuff out. My Luc had a possum encounter several nights ago and has many bites that I hope are not becoming infected, but I can't tell because he's so furry, and no way I have time to take him to the Vet. I am beyond exhausted, and way too anxious today. Steve flew to Hartford Ct on Monday to be away from all the mess (and germs) of the move. He is with our daughter and is not feeling well at all. Sleeping for very long periods of time. He is being admitted to Dartmouth a week from today for more chemo.

For my praying friends, please pray for everyone's safety who is involved in this very big move in the ice (and it is supposed to snow later today), and that we will get through today with some degree of peace and calm. For me, I think it is getting over with just in time. My son will drive my car with the dog and cat as far as Syracuse whenever the movers are done packing today, we'll stay there tonight in a pet-friendly place, and then drive the last 5 hours to VT tomorrow. My daughter will being Steve home on Friday, after the movers have finished unloading at the new house.

Oh Bev, it is finally here!!! I am sorry about the conditions, but so glad it will be over soon. I am also pleased that Steve is elsewhere. I will pray that everyone gets through the move safely. I hope Luc is ok also, I know that can be very worrisome.

On a side note, we went into Boston to a pet friendly hotel over the weekend and we all had a blast!! I know your stay is not necessarily for fun, just wanted to share.

Dear Bev, Moves are always stressful and yours is complicated by so many extra stressful things. I will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts today..you have touched so many here, it will be coming back to you. Thankful for the family members who are helping to make this go smoothly and we will be waiting to hear it is accomplished! Hang on.

And holding you in light that you may find the strength to get through this without cratering at the end (although a weekend at a five-star hotel might be in order for you!). And sending up a prayer for Luc, as well, that he recovers without incident.

So, the truck driver (who acted somewhat bizarrely when he came with his packers two days ago) came in with unimaginable hostility and aggressiveness this morning. Yelled at me, cursed about the ice on the driveway. I felt very threatened and I suppose that just wound up being it for me. I collapsed in tears (and I tend to be tough!) and my son told him he had to leave the house, then locked all the doors behind him. I've officially come unglued now. I've been having this feeling that I'm heading over the edge, and now I have I guess. My attorney and amazing friend Jeff has dealt with the moving company, and my great friend Brooks has figured out a probably doable though slightly wacky alternative plan that we're going to go with I guess. I think this would be somewhat less hard if my DH wasn't scheduled to go into the hospital next Wednesday, in Vermont. Holy smoke this sucks!

Bev, prayers have been sent. Hope things start going better for you.

I can not even imagine your stress level.....be easy on yourself.....sending positive energy your way. At least Vt is such a beautiful place.

Praying for you and Steve, Bev. What a jerk that moving guy was - as if you don't have enough on your plate. So glad that you have wonderful friends and family around to help you. Lean on them.

I'm so sorry that guy was a jerk to you. He had no right to be so asinine.

I wish you the best in figuring out the move and getting home to Steve. I know the worry you must feel for him in anticipation of his chemo next week.

I can't wait for you to be settled in your new home and hope the holidays will be wonderful for you up there in beautiful Vermont (I've never been, but the photos I've seen are amazing).
