Due to elevated liver enzymes Dr. K. reduced my dose to less than 50%. Has me very worried.

same thing happened to me; it's very common - the good news is that your infusion was not cancelled altogether - like mine was a few times. In fact, I only had 3 out of the 6 infusions. And I've been NED for awhile now, so try not worry too much..

Liver enzymes can get quite high on FUDR, Jane. That's why they monitor them so carefully. FUDR is so strong that you're still getting a big dose at 50% reduction. Sending good thoughts your way!

As previous posters noted, don't worry too much, FUDR was reduced for me as well. It's not uncommon on this protocol for liver enzymes to shoot up. It's probably one of the reasons why MSK is the main center in the country where HAI therapy is performed and is proven effective. It needs to have constant oversight by people thoroughly trained for it. Dr. Kemeny, although not my Oncologist, was consulted when needed by my doc. It's her protocol, with many years of proven efficacy, and they all follow it to the letter. Hang in there, she knows what she's doing.

My liver enzymes were also elevated as I moved further through treatment and my FUDR was decreased a bit. Try not to worry!!

I had to skip my second infusion due to my liver enzymes. Now I take some pill twice a day to keep them in check. I think she lowered my dose too.

It was really nice meeting you today. My treatment went well and we were done by 4:00.

Wishing you continued success with your treatment and maybe we can meet again.

Do you know which liver enzymes were elevated. I've had high alkaline phosphatase counts for 28 years. I know there's another liver thing LDH (I had mistakenly got this mixed up with good cholesterol initials) and that's gone higher recently but not enough for my onc to be concerned.

God bless ~

My goodness, CC'ers are the best! You all have provided me with so much information and reassurance. I think I left feeling like I personally was having a problem with the treatment and, thus, would have a lightweight version of the real deal. Now I understand the bigger picture and how often these adjustments are made. And with success. Thank you!
Gwen, I will check which enzymes when they are posted on the portal. Thanks for sharing your experience.
Debbi, I really enjoyed meeting you and your husband and I am glad things went smoothly and quickly once you finally got in. It was fun to meet up and hope to see you again

I hate to say it, but it seems those doctors up in New York, seem to know what they are doing, I wish they knew something about salsa. I hope you are doing well my friend, but I really don't know a thing about your treatment protocol.
Warm regards,
Michael

New York CITY ????? ... Old El Paso tag line if I ever heard one Michael

.......rusuja sending Cheers and Mega Vibes and am also in the "liver enzymes increase for a lotta reasons" club ! Had dose reductions on both Xeloda and FOLFOX.

The liver is the main engine for processing and detoxing everything we put into our bodies and my enzymes were always elevated after chemo. The docs should always err on the safe side and if a short delay or dose reduction is best for YOU ... so be it. Same thing with blood counts. Sometimes the body just needs a little more time to get things in order before more treatments.
