The end is near

Postby tawni's mom » Thu Oct 10, 2013 2:54 pm

Well, back in the hospital for the 4th time.

As some of you know, I was here for 33 days from obstructed bowel resulting with a colostomy. Since then I have had 3 er visits for constipation to chest tightness. This is my 4 th visit and is not going well. Getting plenty of tests done which should have done prior.

However dr has informed me that there is no options left. No more chemo options, and was told to get a will in order. I have approx 2 months to live because my liver has more bad tumors than good skin. We are shocked! Drs said once all tests are complete to contact hospice. How did this happen so fast???

I stop by today to take a quick look at the messages when I read this I felt I needed to say something but my eyes are crying and I am not sure if it would make any sense. I am so sorry for this turn in the fight of this disease. It really doesn't make much sense to any of us to why this happens we only know that it can. Live each moment and enjoy the time you have because none of us knows when things can change.

SHeila

Prayers and cyber hugs coming your.

You know, there is no answer for this Tawni. This is what happened with Lauren, she was doing well and then could not recover from surgery, had no chemo for 2 months and the cancer went crazy. It just works that way sometimes. I'm so sorry for this situation for you. Please take the doctor's words seriously. . .get all your legal stuff done and taken care of asap. You really don't know how much time is left. You don't want to leave anything undone. Do you have someone to take your precious dog? If there is anything you want to do, like an experience or a little trip, please ask your hospice staff. They will do whatever they can to get that done for you. They will take care of you, they will make sure you are pain free and handle any nausea or any other problems. Let us know if we can all do anything else for you.

My heart goes out to you with wishes for an easy journey. Hospice care can be wonderful, please don't settle for less. And your sweet baby dog, is she going to be in a good place? Blessings to you and yours, and peace and light on your way. I'm so sad to begin to say goodbye.

I am at a loss of words here. There is nothing that I could say that would make this better. I know even know what the proper thing to say is. Know that I am thinking of you and praying for an easy transition and journey for you. Sending hugs and prayers.

I hate hearing your news. My heart goes out to you. You started your journey at the same time as my hubby. He is not doing well either. Liver is eaten up. I thought we would have at least a few years. This disease really sucks!

So sorry to hear this. You started just after I did. I may be reaching a critical state as my platelets won't rebound enough to make chemo a continuing option. I was changed to ironitecan this week. Will know next week what it does to my platelets I guess. Hope you can stay strong.

Switched to Irinotecan for 1 yr. CEA rose to >400. Switched to Vectibix 2/18/15. CEA decreasing. Scans show some growth in liver mets. Lung Mets stable to shrinking.
