Back to Sloan Tuesday to meet surgeon

Well, I met the oncologist, Nancy K, on Wednesday and got a call Friday that they had "teamed" me and I am to meet with the surgeon on Tuesday- Dr. Jarnagin. I believe he is the same surgeon Gaelen had- as I read through old posts to learn more about the program at Sloan. He has great online reviews and is director of the liver program at Sloan. I am hoping to get a surgery date soon!

Spent the day playing with two litters of puppies at my dog's breeder's home. No better way to forget cancer!

You're in good hands, Dr. Jarnagin did my liver resection and HAI pump implant 3 years ago and I've been NED since. MSK is a world-class institution and you'll be taken care of accordingly. I recommend you make an appointment with their Integrative care department and get their opinion on diet, supplements and exercise post surgery, I believe it's helped me a lot. Good luck!

It sounds like you have an excellent plan from the best. I am glad to hear things are moving fast so you are on your way to getting this behind you.

Hugs and light to you.

I'm glad you're in such good hands at MSK. I had lung mets taken care of there so I have no professional affiliation with Dr. Jarnigan, but I do have a personal one since I grew up with him. Our families were very good friends when we were children. When I had my recurrence my mom was talking to his mom and the next thing I knew I was going to MSK (and Nancy K.) upon his recommendation. Anyway, he's a great guy and obviously a very smart one. We're pretty proud of him around here. He came from very humble means and he's now saving lives. Impressive!

Good luck.

Thanks everyone!

Al, I was VERY reassured by your post.

Ann, wonderful to have a personal view of him and hear he is a decent man. Surgeons can be tough. Thanks for sharing that history.

Laura- Great to hear from you. How is "the progress?"
