Hey all--Just wanted to let you know that I've had chemo-induced neuropathy for nearly f̶o̶u̶r̶--oops, FIVE!--years but I didn't let it stop me from running my first half marathon!

Finished 13.1 miles in 2:10:00 yesterday. Feeling pretty bad @$$ (and *wicked* pooped)!

Just another day of giving cancer the finger. :)
Stage III rectal @ 33, 4.5mo postpartum
Ovary transpo: 12/07
33 tx rad+Xeloda: 2/08
Lap LAR 0/11 +nodes: 3/08
8 FOLFOX tx: 8/08
Ileo reversal: 9/08
CIPN since 10/08
Normal uterus + lame ovaries = infertile
26.2 11/13

9/10 6 mos off chemo, Neg PET&CTC CEA nl
2/11 finished total 10 rounds chemo
9/13 ^17th clean PET/CT NED for now

I love it! Brigita, you inspired me. I've been procrastinating getting out there and walking this summer...whining about my fried feet. :( I'm one year out from end of adjuvant chemo FOLFOX6 and have significant neuropathy.


I just did 2 miles tonight.....yes, my sneakers rub and chafe my feet but I can still put one foot in front of another and plan to keep on doing that.

Well done and keep it up!
Daughter to Mom, 65, Stage IV with mets to liver, lungs and peri.
Dx 2006, Stage II.
Regular check October 2011, Stage IV established.
She has had Oxi, Folfox and Xeloda, now Avastin.
Progression.
Mom died on April 5th 2013.

I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Excellent effort! I was booked in for a half marathon here next month but unfortunately have a bad case of achilles tendonitis and severely inflamed bursar and am out for a few months :( . So i totally appreciate your efforts to make it over the line.
Diagnosed Stage 3A Rectal Cancer March 12, age 39
ULAR and temp ileostomy March 12
Folfox started April 12 , completed Oct 12.
NED 16/10/12
Ileostomy reversal 23 Nov 12....
