The tears of joy are in my eyes. This is a beautiful sign of renewal and children are a gift. You have always been forward thinking and moving...the house, the marriage and now a child; nothing new to see here folks, keep moving. My way of saying congratulations on living your life. You and Kelly will enter this new world with new eyes and a larger heart. Enjoy!

That is fantastic news Fletch. I'm very happy for you. Playing with my little nephew brings me such joy. Obviously understand why in some ways it was a hard decision for you. When I was freaked about my scans this year it really upset me thinking about how I might not be a part of his life because of this damn disease.
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

Fletch and Kelly,
Much love and congratulations coming from our entire family! Funny, just this afternoon my son asked how you were doing and he smiled big when I told him of some of your adventures. Every now and again they both mention meeting you at Elmo's and joke about making a 'road trip' up there sometime for wings! You both really made an impression. You're going to be terrific parents. It is the adventure of a lifetime!

Thanks for sharing it with us,

Skifletch,

Being a dad is awesome. I did it relatively late in life (Im 47 and my kids are 1 and 4) and the one most surprising thing to me is how much fun it is.

My one-year-old is irreparably entwined in my diagnosis because within a few weeks we moved house (for a new job the other end of the country), found out we were pregnant, then found out I had cancer. I fully understand your fears because in my darkest moments my thoughts center around the fact that if I DONT beat the odds and get past 5 years survival (in whatever condition) my son will be left with no meaningful recollection of me :-(. On the other hand, my two kids give me a cast-iron reason for putting myself through the heaviest treatment I can handle - It has to be worth it.

Good luck with the pregnancy and congratulations.
