scanxiety today..... and the results were good!

Postby lydia123 » Thu Apr 25, 2013 7:32 am

Original -
Now, I know that the universe does not revolve around me. I know that worry has no effect on someone elses cancer cells. However....

Today I am fairly convinced that it is my worry that sustains my universe. If I should falter and grow the slightest bit complacent, if I should say to myself "after three years, the odds are low..." If I do anything but sit here as a ball of anxiety convinced that all is gloom and doom...

If I fail to worry and dare get on with my life today, then the results of this scan will bring my world crashing down at my feet.

Thanks for listening.

Good luck to all who have scans or results this week.

My update as of 4/30

Dr: "I'll see you in May of 2014."

Woo hoo!!!!!

Thanks to all for your support, in this post and over the last (nearly) three years.

I know exactly how you feel. So I'll be optimistic for you. Three years. Odds are in his favor. I'll be strong for you today - how's that? I wish I could do more. Do you know how soon you'll have the results?

Thinking of you both.

Thank you, Belle. Sounds like a deal and you let me know when I can reciprocate.

The appt is on Tuesday. It is never long until we've known by email, but I don't think we'd be given bad news by email so tues will be the day. If I post anything in Hebrew on facebook, it means "clean."

My husband said the new drink was much easier -- usually he's a physical mess after a scan from the contrast. If he remembers what it is, we'll share the name.

I am so with you. My scan is Monday at 7 and results in Thursday.
To distract myself tonight my mother-in law is arriving for my daughter's birthday party on Sunday. I have a Girl Scout training Saturday from 8 am to 9 pm. Plus at some point my sister's husband is showing up at our house with one of their dogs to live with us for a month or so while they house hunt since they are relocating to Houston. Yes my prego sister is going to drive me bananas with this relocation, I'm happy to have family close, but she a hormonal nutcase at the moment.

So yeah I may need a few swinging chickens.

Good luck there, Ray Girl.

With the hormonal relatives, staying calm and sane this crazy weekend, and of course with the scans and results.

Also thanks for weighing in. It felt very good to articulate the feelings.

Good luck to everyone scanning this week!

I had my scan on Tuesday and I'm getting results Monday morning. I think I'm a bit more nervous than has been my "usual" for the last few scans. I'm weeks away from being five years out from surgery, which means my odds of having a good result are excellent, but I am still nervous. If this scan is clear, my oncologist plans to cut me loose and let my regular doctor take care of me going forward. This could be my last scan!

Best wishes,

What a relief.

What a relief.

I can promise you that we would not have survived so well without the support of everyone here. I say "we" because my husband doesn't even know just how much of YOUR advice ended up incorporated into his care and recovery. You have given me so much.

I will be thinking of all having scans, tests, or treatments this week.

Congrats on the clear scans!
I'm just a dude who still can't believe he had a resection and went through chemo (currently 13 years NED). Is this real life?

That's wonderful news Lydia! What a relief for you both. Wishing him clear scans and NED always.

Hope that your hubby is able to watch some AFL games now that the season has started over here. Is he still involved in Aussie Rules footy where you are? My hubby and my two boys love it!

Thanks for the good wishes, Michelle.

You asked a crazy dumb question :)

He is able to watch some games, although it is not a good year for the Blues.

So well said Belle. This perfectly expresses why I will always come back to the club, no matter where I am in my journey. Lydia, congratulations on the fantastic news! Enjoy!!!
