Beta Testing SkiFletch 3.1 - Scan Results Update

Postby SkiFletch » Fri Mar 08, 2013 3:39 pm

Saw my oncologist for my 6 month followup today. CEA stil <0.5, bloodwork normal, physical normal, so my oncologist says, "Well, we're going to get you a scan, and if it comes back good, that port is coming out." And so it's time for the tempting of the fate. Some of you may remember my SkiFletch 3.0 Online thread http://coloncancersupport.colonclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14304&hilit=skifletch+3.0+online from HIPEC recovery (beginning live from the ICU ;)). Well, I figure the port removal is just a minor revision, not a whole nother series, hence the 3.1 designation. Perhaps I'll be able to post live from recovery this time too :D. Scan is Monday morning, just in time for an early birthday present. Hoping I can have the joy of being De-Ported too.

Will update here and at the end of the thread too. Scan results - unchanged, and unremarkable. Still have that liver scar tissue but it's the same size it's been since HIPEC. Tomorrow, calling the guy my oncologist refers to as the "Vascular Sensei" for port removal!

That'd be cool if they let you film the procedure for de-porting! I'm sure many of us would like to see a fellow clubber getting de-ported. Seems we always have questions about what it is like.

Great news....hoping for more!

I'm betting on a clear scan Ski - with a CEA that low - how could it not be great!? That's my thinking anyway. Good luck and have a great birthday!

Yipppeeee for you, Feltch. I'm too scared to get mine out, and think I never will!   My onc and I have a little tangle about it once in awhile, but given I have no accessible veins, so far I am prevailing. Betting on a perfect scan for you, and an easy, breezy de-portation!

Good luck on the scan, and I'm hoping you get rid of that port. My port removal was so minor, the surgeon's pa did it in the office. They just numbed the area and took it out. It was the only thing that was done where I wasn't given the option of being put under for it. I'm sure 3.1 will go great.

Went in for surgery for a cyst on my bladder, and they found colon cancer growing on the outside of the colon. Got to have two surgeries at the same time! Stage 3, one node involved.

That is absolutely awesome, Ski! Not even worried about the scan--since it won't cover the brain I'm sure it will be great! You know me, I just couldn't comment without some kind of an insult for ya! So very happy for you and Kelly---life is good.

Can't do the words, since the only way I'll be de-ported is if mine quits working and I have to have it removed and then be re-ported. What came to mind when I read was,

"I've been de-ported now."
sung to the tune of,
"I'm in the Army now."

Although I like Gotye, guess my age is really showing here!
