Hard to believe I started this thread back on 2008.

But music has always helped me get through the hard times.

And this music transcends more than cancer survivors. So I'm here today, looking for these tunes to help my friend. She is going through a divorce and because her husband is prominent in the community, is about to lose her job.

So I'm looking for updated tunes to inspire her when she gets ready for work in the morning.

I look forward to seeing your updated replies.... Thank you for always being here for me, when I need you.
The one new one I can think of is

Rachel Platten - Fight Song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo1VInw-SKc

Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosion

And all those things I didn't say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?

This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

Losing friends and I'm chasing sleep
Everybody's worried about me
In too deep
Say I'm in too deep (in too deep)
And it's been two years
I miss my home
But there's a fire burning in my bones
Still believe
Yeah, I still believe

And all those things I didn't say
Wrecking balls inside my brain
I will scream them loud tonight
Can you hear my voice this time?

This is my fight song
Take back my life song
Prove I'm alright song
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

A lot of fight left in me

Like a small boat
On the ocean
Sending big waves
Into motion
Like how a single word
Can make a heart open
I might only have one match
But I can make an explosion

This is my fight song (Hey!)
Take back my life song (Hey!)
Prove I'm alright song (Hey!)
My power's turned on
Starting right now I'll be strong (I'll be strong)
I'll play my fight song
And I don't really care if nobody else believes
'Cause I've still got a lot of fight left in me

No I've still got a lot of fight left in me

Like Pammy, I'm mostly into inspirational and primarily southern gospel. I agree with her on the vote for Casting Crowns. :)
I also LOVE the Isaacs, The Collingsworth Family, The Crist Family, The Hoppers, Lauren Talley and of course, The Gaither Vocal Band. I listen to Enlighten on Sirius radio, and the songs just uplift you so much. I don't know if I'd get by without it.

Some particular favorites:
Don't worry 'bout nothing', Pray about everything - Guy Penrod (former Gaither Vocal Band member)
Here I Am - The Hoppers
Don't Start Doubtin' Now - The Dunaways
Faith like That - Gordon Mote
Life Goes On - The Talleys
The Broken Ones - Lauren Talley
The People in the Line - The Talleys

Okay... pretty much everything by the Talleys. LOL

Oh, and How Big your God is" by the Collingsworth Family.
That's a keeper.

Lyric excerpt...

The mountain will tell you, that you can't make it over.
It will try to convince you, that it's way too high.
Though you feel defeated, know that God keeps his promise.
So you tell that mountain, just how big your God is!

Fight Song by Rachel Platter is a frequent one for me. I also go back to my 80's and 90's roots with Hang Tough by Tesla, The Last Mile by Cinderella, Tiny Dancer by Elton John, Tuesdays Gone by Skynrd is a sad one for me. More current songs, Between the Raindrops by Lifehouse, Not a Bad Thing by Justin Timberlake (reminds me of how much I love the hubs). Bodies by Drowning Pool, Alias by In Flames, just to name a few.

Having been in "here" a couple of times before ..
9 actually
AND now a bit older and on a different trajectory.....

Manny Cabo from the blind auditions of The Voice season 15

" Here I go Again... "

Wish I had this version when I started out with CRC 'cos it sure as hell kicks ASS
and describes where I came from and went to
AND I am still ....."going again"
...and wish I could even sing one of those power notes
BUTT I feel every vibe ....

Thanks Manny YOU ROCK buddy.

I agree C, Manny definitely did rock that one. :)
I think the singers on The Voice way outdo almost everyone that ever did American Idol.

For an inspiring anthem, I've always liked "Bring on the Rain" by Jo Dee Messina.

From the Pulp Fiction soundtrack....whistling down the wind is the magical Maria McKee

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axHtDvhW0RA

My heart is empty
Your eyes are dull
Once we were hungry
Now we are full
These ties that bind us
Can't beat these chains
If love is shelter
I'm gonna walk in the rain

You were my angel
Now you are real
So like a stranger
Colder than steel
The morning after
No one should brag
If love is a red dress
Well hang me in rags

Oh well, there goes the fairy tale
Lord, ain't it a shame
In all this comfort, i can't take the strain

If we played even
I'd be your queen
But someone was cheatin'
And it wasn't me
I played on the table
You held something back
If love is aces, gimme the jack

For those chemo-brain memory lapses - 12 names to call your..um... friend-with-benefits

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fFzWtI6ySsU

To look at me, you may not think that I'm a Femme fatale,
But I've got more boyfriends than I can count, you know I don't mean pals
Well, there's Andrew, Barney, Charlie, Dan, and Ed - to note a few.
I used to get their names mixed up, but now here's what I do

I call them
Sweetheart, Babylove,
Angle face, Turtledove,
Honey pie, Sugar lamb,
Huggy bear, Lover man
To avoid any possible embarrassment or blame,
I never call my sweetheart by his name.

My girlfriend, Marcia's quite a dish
She meets boys by the dozens,
She knows all the New York Jets,
Their brothers and their cousins
And each one thinks he is the one that she is crazy 'bout,
'Cause at the crucial moment she's been know to holler out

Ooooh
Sweetheart, Babylove,
Angle face, Turtledove,
Honey pie, Sugar lips,
Macho man, Motor hips
To avoid any possible embarrassment or blame,
She never calls her sweetheart by his name.

Some people think this is dishonest (no, no, no, no, no)
Some people think this isn't right
But have you ever said "I love you, Thomas"
When Thomas was the boy you were in love with last night. (uh-oh)

Next time your sweetie calls you "Dear"
Maybe you should wonder,
Are they just trying to avoid a social blunder.
I'm not trying to make trouble, monogamy is grand,
But if it's not your style better follow my plan

And call him
Sweeheart, Babylove
Angle face, Turtledove,
Honey pie, Sugar lamb,
Lover boy, Superman

Avoid any possible embarrassment or blame
Don't ever call your sweetheart by his name.

Don't ever call your sweetheart
(No never call you sweetheart)
Don't ever call your sweetheart by his name.
