I'm still here by vertical herizon

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pySP1HTW7a8

These words have a lot of meaning for me. Since soo many people thought I wouldn't make it.

The cities grow
The rivers flow
Where you are, I'll never know
But I'm still here
If you were right and I was wrong
Why are you the one who's gone
And I'm still here
The lights go out, the bridges burn
Once you're gone, you can't return
But I'm still here
Remember how you used to say I'd be the one to runaway
But I'm still here

Someone just sent me this. It sure put a smile on my face. It's white knuckles by Ok Go.

You are a child of mine by Mark Schultz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dzog3_vTeEU

Lyrics

I’ve been hearing voices
Telling me that I could
Never be what I wanna be.
They’re binding me with lies,
Haunting me at night,
And saying there’s nothing to believe.
Somewhere in the quietness,
When I’m overcome with loneliness,
I hear You call my name.
And like a father You are near
And as I listen I can hear You say

Chorus:
You are a child of Mine
Born of My own design
And you bear the heart of life.
No matter where you go,
Oh, you will always know
You have been made free in Christ.
You are a child of Mine

And so I listen as You tell me who I am
And who it is I’m gonna be.
And I hang on every word,
Knowing I have heard
I am Yours and I am free
But when I am alone at night
That is when I hear the lie
You’ll never be enough
And though I’m giving into fear
If I listen I can hear You say

Chorus

I am calling…
I am calling…
I am calling…

Chorus

An oldie...

Don’t Give Up by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uiCRZLr9oRw

The closing of the year.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJSkNdkCt1A

Lyrics
If I cannot bring you comfort
Then at least I bring you hope
For nothing is more precious
Than the time we have and so
We all must learn from small misfortune
Count the blessings that are real
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
At the closing of the year
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
At the closing of the year.

If I cannot bring you comfort
Then at least I bring you hope.

Now all the winter bells are ringing
Hear them echo through the snow
And the children's voices singing
on the streets so far below

This is a time to be together
And the truth is somewhere here
Within our love of people
At the closing of the year.

Cruel Summer by Bananarama may work for me, because I found out in the heat of the summer and had left all my friends a year earlier to move to a new city. I was truly all on my own.

I'm coming home by Diddy Dirty Money

These remind me of my 8 hour drive home after my treatment. The rest is sort of my life on the road going back and forth in treatment and my personal life was on hold. But I'm done with treatment and enjoying going back to my life pre-cancer.

[Chorus]
I’m coming home
I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
I know my kingdom awaits and they’ve forgiven my mistakes
I’m coming home, I’m coming home
tell the World I’m coming

Back where I belong
I’ve never felt so strong eh
feeling like there’s nothing that I can’t try
and if you feel me put your hands high, high, high, hey
and if you feel me put your hands high, high, hey

I just went through every page of this thread and it really shows the many great people we have lost in the last few years from this boars

My latest favorite is Calling all angels by Train http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaG9SDxwPBg It really gets me inspired.

One day when I was in the hospital a couple volunteers came in and sang this for me. I really love it. Jana stanfield If I were Brave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF5V2PEujqs

One of my favorites is Day by Day by Doug and the Slugs. It has become my theme song. The opening lyrics
" bad news don't ruin my appetite,
don't let the papers tell me what's wrong or right.
I just do what I do and I do it day by day by day by day.
Live a life, might take it slow
Make mistakes but that's the way it goes"
Chorus is
" day by day I'm feeling stronger
Day by day I'm lasting longer
Day by day you help me make my way" Great song ..,, give it a listen.

I just heard this the other day, and I thought it was appropriate here.... Because hope has always guided me through the darkest of times.

When you walk through the storm...

When you walk through the storm
Hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark
At the end of the storm
There's a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on, through the wind
Walk on, through the rain
Though your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

Dagnabbit cptmac...ya just gotta bring this one out dontcha' ????

Great Song :
"You'll Never Walk Alone" is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.
Have heard so many versions I even forgot it was an R & H old timer ! had to look it up.

Actually first heard it by the Righteous Brothers, who opened for the Beatles in Vancouver, 1964 BTW ! ( YES ...I actually still do remember the 60's..at least mostly ...some of it  ) and nobody forgets Elvis "hurtin'" on this one either.

Thanx for the blast from the past...we used to do more of these kinds of threads a few years ago didn't we ?........
maybe should get back to it.

Just reread the whole thread..brings back "Memories...of the way we were."

Cheers Cap'n

I am not looking to promote a song my husband wrote...just simply would like to share it with all fellow colon cancer patients. He actually wrote it for a community fundraising event for the cancer society and the song was recorded at a studio in Nashville. It can be downloaded for free (although the site does recommend a minimum donation of $5 with proceeds to the Canadian Cancer Society). This is not necessary...please feel free to listen to it as an inspirational song....it's all about his journey with cancer. The site is www.weareallonenation.com--click on Geoff Stevens "Find a Cure" and listen to the Nashville version. A video can also be viewed on youtube of him singing it acoustically at the fundraiser (type Geoff Stevens Find a Cure) on youtube.

This kinda stuff gets the message out there, raises awareness..like the CClub..and makes it REAL for many people.
.... Loud and proud !

...but...
Had a problem with your posted link, so this one should work if you can't get to it from the other one.

This will be a giveaway we are parents of young kids & tweeners, but we love songs from Glee! The Fleetwood Mac songs they did were a great way for us to intro the kids to the Rumours album--a personal fave. We also like their versions of Teenage Dream & Dancing Queen & the original Loser Like Me. Even if you haven't seen the show, or have an aversion to all things Glee...perhaps reconsider it for some tunes! My husband (the patient in all this) even has requested some of these to be added to his playlist. Oh--and Miley Cyrus' Party in the USA is even on there; he says it helps him prepare for unknown or uncomfortable/painful/stressful events--makes him think of his girls & he can conquer the hyperbaric chamber, the damn wound vac, or the start of 4 months of chemo in 2 weeks. Having been relatively new to this board & mostly a lurker for info, it was great to read through all of the song suggestions from posts long ago.
Thanks.
