This is a song that I listened to ALOT during chemo. The song is called "The Rain Don't Last" by Hope. She's a new artist and her album doesn't even come out until later this year but you can go to this site to listen and download the MP3 for free.

The one I really like right now is "What about Now" by Chris Daughtry. It reminds me to make the most of now.

Now that I'm no longer seeing my onc, I was surprised when my PCP called me at home on Sunday....

He and my onc had got together and were looking over my blood. They thought I should come up and see a hematologist because I have low iron. When I joined the Army I had low iron and that was when I was 20... But then they figure my cancer started when I was 16.

Either way, I'm not too concerned, even more so since I can't go up there until April. (I wanted to wait until June when the weather is always nice, since they still have 5 feet of snow in Minneapolis, but they thought I should come sooner, so we compromised on April).

So I'm bumping this up for some inspirational or happy tunes, for suggestions of what to load in my i-pod for my long journey (16 hours round trip) there and back.
I new one I would like to add, because it's sweet and sad is Christmas shoes. I saw the made for TV movie and fell in love with the song.

Thanks for your suggestions over the years.... It really makes the long drive something for me to look forward tooo..

This is my "Fight Song". It was originally a woman's lib song in the 60's. I didn't like it much until I heard it after my diagnosis. I've had to fight for a long time with no breaks in sight, so I need all the encouragement I can get!

I am Woman by Helen Reddy:

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an' pretend
'cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS
Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman

You can bend but never break me
'cause it only serves to make me
More determined to achieve my final goal
And I come back even stronger
Not a novice any longer
'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow
See me standing toe to toe
As I spread my lovin' arms across the land
But I'm still an embryo
With a long long way to go
Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to I can face anything
I am strong (strong)
I am invincible (invincible)
I am woman
Oh, I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong

FADE
I am woman
I am invincible
I am strong
I am woman

Outwit. Outplay. Outlast.

Goin' back a bit...the original Santana album (with the lion face on it) always got me going. ( used to play drums so I guess the driving latino rhythms just did the job !)

Bob Seger over the years, and his best of CD...again those driving rhythms.

Anything YOU sing !.....why ?? we have passed Pms back and forth but I just reread your logo : stage iv NED since '04.

YOU are an inspiration...so by extension, anything YOU sing is an inspiration ! Works for me.

Good listenin' and best wishes

One song that got me through my mother's passing and my current condition is the Foo Fighters "Times Like These"
"It's time like these you learn to live again"
"It's times like these you give and give again"
"It's times like these you learn to love again"
"It's times like these time and time again"

Also, Husker Du "New Day Rising" and Black Flag "Rise Above" get me charged up in the gym.

I am a music fiend. Music all day every day. It's what I do.
Anyway - here is one of my favorite albums of all time. **Warning- it is a heart wrencher**
Lou Reed - Magic and Loss - 1992.
I got it when it came out because I loved his and John Cale's album for Andy Warhol - Songs for Drella - 1990.
Magic and Loss is about 2 of his friends battle with cancer. I have never heard such emotional lyrics and insight than what is on these 2 albums.
18 years later - I would find out about my own cancer.

Here is the first paragraph of a review:
"This is an album about death – and how to live with it. It is an eyewitness account, documented in compelling song, of a losing battle with cancer, the mourning after and the little miracles that, for the mourner, mark the beginning of the healing process. It will probably bum you out the first couple of times through."

You asked for Happy or Inspirational songs. Though this album is not happy, it is inspirational in the fact of his love and pain for these 2 people.
