Karin,

Sorry you got this news, and hoping you'll get some pain relief soon. I'm glad you're here too, but sorry for the reason...

All the best (and my strongest thoughts... but I'm feeling a bit like a Galen impostor here),

Sorry to hear this news. Enjoy your time with your sister. Check into that pain. If it is a bone met (particularly in the spine) I HIGHLY recommend STAR Ablation to treat it. This is considered palliative care. It can make a huge difference in pain levels. I've done radiation and I've done the RFA. From here on out if RFA is an option that is the route I am taking. It is so less damaging to the body. Instead of needing multiple treatments and dealing with fatigue and nausea, it is a one-day out-patient procedure (comparable to a port placement).

Let hospice help you be as comfortable and pain free as possible, and I hope you have many good days (especially since they are often so much better without treatment) to enjoy with your sister, other family and friends.

Karin,
I am so sorry to hear your news and hope you can get some relief from the nerve pain. I have nerve pain in my buttocks, leg and groin from a tumour or scar tissue on the pelvic wall that is pressing on the sciatica nerve. Gabapentin has controlled the pain for me. If the RFA that Kathryn has had success with is not available this drug my work for you.
Hope you get to enjoy many more good times with your sister...times with family are wonderful.
Wishing you peace and comfort in the days ahead.
Hugs

Hi,

Can you please ask your Onc why he thinks following Clinical Trial will not help. I think it's a promising new field and is currently recruiting:
http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT0 ... CA&rank=31

Ipilimumab and Local Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Recurrent Melanoma, Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Colon, or Rectal Cancer

ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier:

NCT01769222

Best of Luck and if you need any help in getting to this Clinical Trial, I can talk to Doctor as I stay close by.

Andy

I assume he knows what trials are out there and eligibility requirements. My guess is the amount of lesions in my liver and lungs keeps me from being able to get any local radiation.
I would pretty much need whole liver radiation, and I don't believe that is recommended, in general.

I also told him I didn't want to do a phase one trial.
Stage IV, April 2009.
Treatments...multiple .
Currently none

I'm so very sorry to read there are no other options. Hopefully, your visit with your sister will help your spirits. I pray you can get good pain management for the arm pain and that the palliative care will help you as much as possible. You've been such a blessing on this forum and I'm so glad you've been here to help those of us who are coming behind you. Like others have said - hate the reasons though!
God bless ~
