hate going to funerals of cancer victums when I survived

Is it ever getting harder going to friends and neighbors funerals knowing they have died of cancer yet I am still some how here going on 5year out
How do you explain why are we still here yet there loved one is not ?
Both my neighbors this week where older 70s- 80's yet still too young to go.
CRC- IV 7-th yr Survivor -5 rectal tumors 1 bleeding with mets to liver
Rad. 36 treat.
with 6 Chemo 2-Ox.- 4 Fol.
surgery 15 hrs to resect colon and liver- Feb 08
follow up 6 chemo Folfox

I understand your feelings of survivors guilt, but I can't think of a single cancer patient who wouldn't be cheering out loud and celebrating your 5 year survival. You don't need to bring it up or justify it or explain it. There's no explaining it - no understanding it - it just is what it is. I applaud you for attending the funerals and showing your support - that's what matters most.

The morning of my surgery I received word that a beloved member of our Sunday School class had died from Stage 4 Rectal Cancer.. That was not easy, it was Wednesday . On Friday, I got the unbelievable news that I was Stage 0. Chuck's funeral was Saturday. I was so glad to be at his funeral, to carry on his message. That is what I do, day to day, live my live and carry on Chuck's message.
Dx Feb 2010 4 cm tumor, just inside rectum
EUS stated T3 tumor
2nd opinion, need better path
Mar 2010 transanal surgery. Surgery by board certified CRS found tumor only in lining
6 exams of surg site, 3 PET, 3 scopes laterNED.
Scope in Mar2015, clean colon
Next scope/test in 3 years
