Five years and seven months since diagnosis. Currently on Xeloda, Avastin and Celebrex. Last CT/PET scan had no uptake three months ago. Scheduled for another scan next month. Keeping fingers crossed.

I had horrible body aches from my head to my toes so I asked for it. It has completely taken away the aches. However, I did ask, at the beginning of this recurrence, if I could be put on celebrex due to Dr Lin in Washington who has had success with this as part of the regimen. My specialist would not put me on it but once I started having these horrible body aches, she prescribed it for me. I did have good results though, with the xeloda and avastin before that. I am anxious to see if I continue to have a good scan results. My next scan is in May.

What an awesome discussion. This is why I get angry about all of the statistics focusing on 5 year survival. There should be stats. There should be stats for 5, 10, 15 year survival. It just goes to show how outdated statistice are.

BTW I am 7.5 years and NED for the third time. Each time for over a year.

Does anyone remember her name?

Hi Mich,

Of course I have no way of knowing, but I wonder if you're thinking about Suzanne Lindley?

My husband is at the 20 month mark - no surgery for Stage 4 RC. he's had to skip the irinotecan since December due to low platelets (lowest was 52) but I put him on papaya leaf extract for the last two weeks and they've risen to 76 but since we are off to London next month, our onc didn't wanted to compromise his immune system any further so he did just Avastin and will stick with Xeloda. Scanxiety this week as well as awaiting his CEA results on Monday. He hit a new low last visit at 11.3. Luckily it's a very good marker for him. Should be interesting to see what that is doing with the lack of the iri.

You guys are wonderful!!! What an inspiration! My hubby was dx'd in dec of 2009, so we are relatively new to all this, compared to many of you. We are at MDAnderson right now, where he just underwent HIPEC surgery, so hopefully, we'll be around in 10 yrs when someone else asks that question!!

Oral Xeloda; remission for 20 mos.
4/12 Recurrance; Folfiri + avastin

Wishing you & your hubby all the best ... hope he is recovering well from his hipec.

I am glad that hipec was possible in the presence of a liver met ... your message may offer others awareness about this option - thank you.

I'm more of a newbie, too. Dx'd Stage IIIB in Jan. 2009. NED for 3 years and then a tiny liver met removed in April 2012. No chemo after HR and NED again for 18 months now. That's 5 years this coming Jan. 7th. since my original dx.
