Yearly scan

Postby Grace14 » Wed Jan 02, 2013 7:31 pm

My yearly scan is coming up at the end of the month, so of course I'm starting to get a little anxiety. I don't know why but every time it gets close to scanning I tend to eat a lot. I feel like I should just eat everything I want just in case I get bad news isn't that stupid? It's just what I do. I've been on a 3 month schedule, and my Onc said that if my scans are clear I will be on 6 month schedule. I have been asking her to be pushed to 6 months since last year and she would always say not yet!

I sure hope and pray for a clean scan! I hope everyone out there scanning soon will also have clean scans.

We are all very nervous before controls, for the first 2 years controls are every 3 months, and for next 2 years twice a year.
As you see in my signature, I am possibly the only cancer patient without colono or CT for almost 2 years after dx. So I decided I will do colono - and it is scheduled for 30 of january. I believe few day before I will have so many horrible symptoms .....and after colono I will be fine - if results are good.....otherwise i will freak out
Dx 2/11
surgery 5/11, T2N0MX, G2, SRC rectal ca, 22 cm removed
CT- numerous mets in abdomen - LN, 2 big ones on pancreas, one penetrated right urether. Surgery, they just take samples for PHD, 6 roundds 5FU, refuse further chemos

Beth - how are you? Thanks Beth I'm trying to hang in there but it's so hard. I've wanted for so long to hear come every 6 months so bad. I just hope I get to hear those words. Last time I was there she felt very confident that I would have clean scans but its been a year, and that's so long, plenty of time for something to grow! I have to start trusting my doctors when they tell me to stop worrying and live my life! I hope that one day this will get easier for me. It just has to get better. Hugs to you Beth!
