I was diagnosed in August 2003 with Stage 2A sigmoid colon cancer. This year will be 10 years NED! I had surgery and 8 months of chemo- 5fu and Leukovorin. I still get yearly bloodwork and then colonoscopy's every 2 years. So far, so good.

hI.....Still see my oncologist every 6 months for CT scans and CEA. "Things" in my lungs and liver since day 1. Oncologist is being
very pro-active (thank goodness) and doing careful monitoring. Things have not been all "sunshine" I now have CLL (chronic lymph leukemia)
MDS (bone marrow- anemia) and chronic kidney disease. 3 surgeries for skin cancer, squamous cell and bassal cell.

My CLL is watch and wait....they do not do chemo until it is absolutely necessary....a very hard concept to get around
when you are told you have cancer...quite the mind mender :D

Hey...this isn't all doom and gloom....I'm still here....I feel fine....I go to Florida for the winter....life is good :D

Dad has been NED since 5/2009, knock wood.

I come back and check in and send healing thoughts while I lurk, since I don't have too much to post that is helpful. I remind myself that things may change instant, and not to take this remission for granted.

My DH is just over 3 years from diagnosis. Had colon and liver resection in February 2010 so almost 3 years out from surgery now. He had a single met in the liver and 3 of 15 lymph nodes positive (3 others with macroscopic cancer, not called positive - probably downstaged with preop radiation and chemo). No evidence of cancer since his surgery. Post surgery he had 12 chemo treatments - Folfox + Avastin. Had to stop Oxi after # 10 due to severe neuropathy. CT scan in December was good. CEA and LFT's best they have been since surgery at his appointment in December. All is good on our homefront!
