11-15-11 Colon resection, complete hyst.
Staged T3N1a, one out of 33 lymph nodes
12-11 Started Oxali and Xeloda, 8 rounds
6-8-12 Very last dose of Xeloda!
6-26-12 CT scan results, NED!
7-26-12 Ilieo. reversal, port out

Age 46 (triathalete asymptomatic until 2 months prior to dx)
Stage 4 w/mets to Liver, lungs and nodes) KRAS Mut

Insurance/Medically approved for TheraSpheres - procedure to begin 2/14/12
Died 2/13/12 (sepsis due to colon perforation caused by primary tumor)

Familial history:

-- Me - Father Dx at age 48 May, 1988 - Stage 3 (Chemo, Rad, Surgery)
NED since August, 1988 (yes, 24 years!!)
Husband Jim - dx Stage IV Rectal cancer 5/11 age 46
Mets to liver, lungs & nodes
KRAS mutant
Folfoxiri-B 6/11-8/11
Attempted liver resection 10/11
Xelox+Avastin+affinitor 11/11-1/12
affinitor+nexavar
SIRT eval scheduled 2/14/12
Died 2/13/12

My docs said tumor could have been growing for 5 years before diagnosis.

I had a colonoscopy on my 50th birthday and was told I had cancer. What a birthday present!
Dx 11/15/2012, 50 yo
RC, T3N1
started radiotherapy and Xeloda 12/18/12
LAR 3/11/13, temporary ileostomy
Xelox 4/17/13
Ileostomy takedown 2/14, peritonitis and emergency surgery- Rt Hemicolectomy
CT clear 2/14

Diagnosed June 2012
Rectal Cancer Stage 3C (15 of 19 nodes positive)
XELODA/Radiation Aug 2012
Just finished round 5 of 6 FOLFOX4
Scan in Jan 2013

Father had colon cancer in his 70s. Mother and sisters BRCA positive. Mother had 2 primary breast tumors. Dipped Copenhagen (snuff for 22 years). Was experiencing extreme stress due to economic downturn in the US when tumor is thought to develop.
Jun 12: Rectal cancer - Stage IIIC pT2N2 (15/19 pos nodes) - age 49
Jul 12: Resection w/ileostoma
Aug 12: 6 weeks rad w/Xeloda
Sep-Jan 13: FOLFOX - 6 rounds
Jan 13: clean scan
Mar 13: Reversal/Port out
Aug 13: Clean scope
Currently NED

Thank you all for participating...I hope to one day visit as many primary care physicians with information like this to show them that age should not be a factor AT ALL when looking at/diagnosing colon cancer.

I'm 32 yoa, and have scheduled my own colonoscopy (routine) in January.

Husband diagnosed 3-09, age 34
Stage 3C with 15 positive nodes
Total colectomy due to necrotic colon
Ileo reversal failed
But, all I care about is that he is 3 years NED

Dx'd rectal ca stage III Sept 2010, colon resection, chemo and radiation
NED
Sept 2012 fallout from radiation caused complications, new colon
resection w/ perm colostomy, fighting pelvic mass infection now
Dr says radiation necrosis but at least I'm still NED

originally diagnosed as colon cancer after surgery data gathered diagnosis is colo-rectal
currently on 8th folfox treatment - 4 more to go - date of completion Feb 14th 2013

Age IS NOT a factor...CRC plays no favorites.
Be sure to take a stack of Colondars with you and nail them to the office walls or doctor's forehead :shock:
They are full of bios which show many younger folks were dismissed as having "something else"

I think my wife is the youngest to be diagnosed with Colon Cancer on this forum.
