I just got back from the hospital where they disconnected me from my bottle and actually pulled out my PICC line. It was my final of 12 rounds of FOLFOX. I was worried I'd have to wear that darn PICC for a while, but they got the ok from my onc to pull it out. I was amazed that it's really just a simple matter of gently pulling on the line and all 42 cm came out looking clean and normal and I couldn't feel a thing. It took less than 30 seconds. My left arm feels so free and light without that thing taped to it. No more long sleeves in hot weather to try to hide it and no more wrapping it up with saran wrap in order to take a shower!
I will be getting a scan sometime in the next several weeks to check on things, but (aside from the nasty side-effects) I'm feeling good about things and ready to move on. I have about 6 weeks to recoup, then I start my new job. Just thought I'd share a little positive news with you guys. This forum has really been a huge help to me throughout this ordeal. I'm very grateful for all the wise advice and kindness I've received here. Now it's time for a nice looooonnnnnggggg nap!
